| Make sure your battery is charged well, if you try starting your bike and the battery only has enough power to just barley turn the engine over it can be very hard on your starter. I've heard of guys burning their starter out due to low voltage.
Patience is a virtue. No patience, boost it. |

Scrub any corrosion off the post and connectors with a dry wire brush if they're corroded. Dab a little Petroleum Jelly on em after you brush them off to prevent future corrosion. I would start there and look further. The fact that your hearing clicking is a good thing. It means that you solenoid is kicking which means that your ignition seems to be working. If everything looks clean; then yes, you'll likely need a battery. Snag that sucker and take it a parts store for load testing. A bad battery will either never charge (shorted cells) or has basically worn out (low capacity) which will charge but will die very quickly on a load tester. (Just put that out encase they try to screw you over at the auto parts store). If she's not charging after you've made the checks, then don't keep trying. It really can result in damage. As a "bar-hopper" would check all this first. As a part time "Tourer" I would definately change it out before the next riding season starts.
