Posts: 244 Lindale, TX | Where is a good place to order oil plug washers for my oil changes? The Victory site is very confusing.

Plus it will be in the Oil Change Kit they sell.
I just buy the oil, filters and washers in advance. I think I bought 3 washers for under $5.

Posts: 1290 Ruskin, Fl | I bought a bag of ten for $10 from the dealer. Prior to that I did reuse one once because the dealer was out of stock. There was not any problems, but I would rather put a new one on every time. |

| I keep 1 on the shelf and just swap them out each time. I wish they had stayed with the o-ring drain plug. I assume it's too easy to damage? |

Posts: 118 Capitol Region of NH | There is a guy on this site that sells a better drain plug that has a magnet on it. He also sells that replacement washers. I ordered the better drain plug and a bag of washers last year and have been very pleased with the drain plug and always have a new washer to put on. |

The oil plug washer is a common size crush washer and is available from any auto parts store. The only problem is that they usually don't have listings for Victory (or any other) motorycles so you need to take the washer to them and match up by size. And they are usually less than .50 each. |

I went to two stores here, Auto Zone and O'Reilly's, and the washer they had with the correct inside diameter. The problem was the outside diameter was larger then the area machined for the washer under the engine. I did not like the idea of filing down the outside so I bought the Polaris part.
Maybe your local stores had a better selection.

Thanks! I will check out NAPA here and pick some up. I am about to use the last one I have in stock.
Do you have a part number I could give them?

Posts: 432 Gettysburg, 2008 Tour Premium | I reuse the washer along with using teflon plumbers thread tape on the bolt. Have never had a leak or seep of oil. I have done the same on all my bikes. A good friend turned me on to the tape, it helps to keep the bolt snug without adding any extra torque. And it have nothing to do with the saving of a Dollar-it woks better and adding a new washer becomes unnessesary. |

| wroman, the only thing you need to take care of when using teflon tape is that you avoid getting too close to the end of the thread as it cuts off and ends up in your motor which can plug oil passages. Teflon also isn't designed for heat. I know lots of guys who use it, but you have to know the potential risks. Just saying and there isn't anything wrong with your suggestion. |

Posts: 388 Salisbury, NC | I looked over my bag of washers and I guess I threw the part number away. I think they are the same washers they use on a Toyota R22. When I run low, I just carry an old old to the store and match it up and order more. ET |

So I am guessing that the staff at Napalm in Austin thought they were 95 cents each, not for a package of 10. Copper washers with a 10x markup. Something has got to pay for Titus's pedicure.
Thanks! |

Posts: 354 20 miles west of Chicago. | I probably should have said; Marked at 95 cents per washer on my bag of ten. The bag was apparently marked for one washer at a time sale. I just like to buy 'em a bag at a time as I use Amsoil, which my dealer doesn't stock, so I don't get the oil or filter for each change at the dealer's, where I'd be able to pick up a washer with each oil and filter purchase. I have two Vics and change the oil on each about 4-5 times a year; always in the fall when I put them to bed for the winter, regardless of milage. Sorry for being confusing. |
