This write up is for a Zumo 550 with GXM on a Black Tour Premium. It is non permanent as I did not drill or solder anything. I've put nearly 50K miles combined on two different bikes using these methods and have not had anything fly off or wiring come loose.

I'm not recommending this method, I'm only stating that it is the method that has worked and works for me as I can't solder very well at all. I eventually plan on buying the AZ Zumo mount and drilling holes for the mount and wiring but for now this will be it.

First step is to remove the speedo bezel and dash/radio panels. Great instructions on how to do that here:

and here:

If you still have question on how to do this, PM me and I will gladly help.

I did not take everything off. I just set the radio and panel to the side (on the glove box side) and worked with the wiring beneath it.

First thing I did was splice in the Zumo power to the stock GPS connector:

An alternate place to get to switch power is to use the Powerlet connector (I did not as I later plan on hooking up my heated clothing to this connector):

I then spliced into the ground used for my BigShot.

I then placed the GXM right under the front panel and tested the there was enough room with the shield all the way up and down.

I then ran the XM antenna extension through a hole and back under the radio panel. I did this in case I want to quickly remove the GXM for use in car. The extension is not needed if you will only run it on bike, the GXM will reach cradle.

I tested everything before moving forward to make sure I was getting switched power and a signal...everything worked.

I then decided to clean up my glove box and unplugged the AUX connector from the radio, removed the grommet and then plugged it back in and tucked it under the radio as well as connected it to my Zumo and ran another sound test. All good.

I then put everything back (but did not tighten) and installed the ram ball and then the cradle, then a ram lock and then the wiring.

Again the ram ball is held by industrial strength double sided tape.

Once I figured out how much slack was needed I zip-tied all the new wiring, made it fit under the panels and then tightened all the bolts/nuts etc.

For those that wonder what the big shot looks like or where it goes, I took a pic of that.

Finished product (well temp until I get the AZ perm Zumo mount):

The last pic of my glove box does include a velcroed garage door opener (velcroed to the inside of the glove box door).

Now I can fit my phone, wife's phone, wallets in the glove box, or Zumo when not on bike and I have my tunes and navigation.

Putting the GXM in front (near metal) has not interfered and I get great reception in all directions.

That's all there is to it!
