I have a 2008 Vision Tour Premium. Just purchased a Uni-Go trailer used on craigslist. I gather from reading other threads I need to purchase a Hitch Doc hitch. What about receiver? wiring harness? Any help would be appreciated. Part numbers, website, pics, etc.

Thanks

thanks, was it hard to wire? Did you do it yourself or have dealer do it?

Did the wiring myself, had dealer put hitch on. Well worth the $50.00.

I don't feel its to difficult, I think the job was harder on the TC.

Take the seat off and its all in plain sight.

I thought the bushtec hitch was a little heaver duty than Hitch Dr, and it cane with instructions, and pictures, on both the wiring and install. I did it in a weekend. There is a post some where that some one did with out removing the bags, by just removing the rear wheel. I wish I'd have thought of that. By my relocation, it should be doable

One thing to consider with that one wheel trailer is the added torque on the hitch. You may need some extra bracing if the Hitch-Doc is just hung down from the frame, which I think the Bushtec provides. There is a considerable price difference, a fab shop could probably help, I would just hate to see things go to sh*t on a trip, but at least you would have your tent. Just my 2 cents, Alan

I ran into a guy last weekend that was pulling a Uni-Go. Very cool paint job. He was riding a bright yellow GW and painted his black Uni-go with some yellow stripes and wings, a couple of eyes and of course the stinger. It was VERY cool!

I did ask about the torque affect. He said that there really isn't much difference between it and a regular trailer. He did say it is limited in weight to about 80 pounds. Not that I want to pull a 1000 pound trailer...but is this too little or about the limit a bike should pull?

I am curious if the hitchdoc and bushtec took into consideration this type of a trailer and therefore we don't need to worry about the torque. Any thoughts??? I haven't called them yet as I am not able to get into the market until mid-year at the earliest (2010).

I will let you know as I will be hooking up my hitch doc & uni-go shortly. I spoke to Uni-Go distributor in Ohio and asked him "if I bought the trailer from you, what hitch would you sell me to hook it to the Vision" he answered "we use the Hitch Doc with Visions and uni-go trailers. We've done a bunch of them, they work fine and everyone is happy with them." Not very technical or scientific but that is what I went with. Let you know how it goes. Actually, I'm more nervous about splicing into Vision wiring to wire trailer harness than I am about hitch and torque....And my Uni-Go manual states loading capacity at 110lbs (I hope to not even come close to that).

Good to hear about what the trailer builder says about the hitch. On my bike I soldered my leads into the Victory harness behind the gang connector located under the seat, if you search the forum I believe an aftermarket plug-in harness is available, and the part number was also mentioned. Hope this helps, Alan
