he's definitely been to hell and back and can prove it. if you read the article through it says he'll tell you why he rides Victory's over Harleys. When it comes to riding, there are few that can hold a candle to mr. barger. I'd like to read more of his life, he's got a story to tell.

For years he has said the biggest mistake he made was creating the rule that you must have a HD in good operating condition.

Sonny lives not far from me. He frequents the same watering holes in Cave Creek that host a lot of bikers. I have visited with him several times, very interesting man with a lot of stories. Pretty tight with Arlen Ness. I have read his books that are full of his life and interesting.

And, yes he loves his Vision. Said he never did like HD's.

well, arlen customed sonny's vision about 1 1/2 two years ago. I'm sure it is the original 8-ball would be my guess. there was one other black vision lowered on another site some where as well that is even sharper looking than sonny's.

if i was to have it all to do over again, and you lined up every street vision and the various colors, and all the tours in their various colors and then stick an 8-ball in there and tell me to take my pick. I'd be gone on the 8 faster than you can say the words.

The vision is a very sharp lookin' bike riding low and blacked out. i see the lines formin' too dimonback....

Actually-the Vision has a reverse-option except for 10th anniv where it was standard.

You know if you get a $20k bike handed to you for free, you can't exactly say you prefer another brand, lol...... I believe ole Sonny would tell you it is about the ride, not what you ride.
One of the questions I had for Arlen when he was in town was what bike he rides most of the time since he owns around 40+ HD's. He told me that these days he rides the Vision almost exclusively. He really likes the ergo's and handling. Tough to argue with that assertion.

I think Sonny Barger was never too fond of Harley because of all the sales promotion that the HAMC use of Harleys gave the company, especially in promoting an image that sold ( And, I think, still does...) a lot of bikes for Harley. The company always distanced itself from the club acting like any association with the club would tarnish Harley's image. I can see his point. They should have been paying the HA a commision.

Glad I found this earlier posting about Sonny Barger. The first time I ever saw a Vision was this about 10 miles from Sturgis. It was Sonny Barger with about 4 other HA's and girlfriends. I came home and traded my street glide for an 8-ball. I am going to try to send some pics with this post
