Comments on joining the American Motorcyclist Association. Not sure how beneficial it would be to join and just like to hear some opinion before dropping $40.00.

What? No one is an AMAer, or wants to comment. Maybe that answers my question as to whether I should join or not.

Depends on what your looking for. You have to find out what they are for and against and decide if they share you views. AMA and ABATE are more about the political aspect of motorcyclists rights. Without them we would probably have more restrictions at this point in time. Most organizations are more about the legal area of motorcycling. Regardless of whether your active or not, the $40 will definately benafit us all in the long run.
Thanks to the internet there is so much information at the touch of a mouse, reseach on the issues are easy. Organizations need $$$ to fight the issues. Its up to you to decide where your money and your vote will do the most good.

Right, Thanks. All in all, I do agree what they stand for. The question is, in the opinion of others that would read my inquiry, have they found AMA to be worth while? That was part of my research and with anything else, I can take an opinion of another, research and decide for myself. So it sounds as you are a member cjnoho, and are satisfied with their performance in supporting the motorcyclist community? If I'm being personal, no reply is necessary, thanks for your input though.

I have been a member since 2000. Having someone watching your back IMO is a good thing. I do enjoy the monthly publication they send to members and read it from cover to cover, although I do not get into dirt bike racing, hill climbing and MC racing, I still find it interesting. Nice reads on touring about places I would not have thought about riding.
