Picking up my NEW Vision Saturday...It is 531 miles from the dealer to the house.

Question is: Should I ride it home and break it in on the Interstate or should I trailer it and do the break in here at the house????

Any suggestions???

Since you are supposed to ride it at different speeds and gears and RPMs for the first 500 miles or so I'd suggest skipping the Interstate as much as possible and take some back roads if you can. Be safer and also overall a lot more fun.

As referred to by Lotzafun, ensure you frequently vary the rpm and while on the highway also switch between 5th and 6th gear. Just be sure to avoid droning along at constant rpms and loads and you'll be fine.

MAKE SURE THE DEALER ADJUSTS THE BRAKE AND SHIFT LEVERS TO YOUR FIT - yes, I'm yelling. This is SUPER important for that first ride - I know from experience.
And stay off the freeways for the most part.

just adjust your speed on the interstate every so often by 5 -10 miles an hour

As tempted as I was to do the exact same thing when I bought mine I trailered it so that it could be broken in properly.

Yes...I am home and STILL have a SEG on my face!!! Thsoe were the most comfortable miels I have ever logged on a motorcycle..>Evenwith the varying of RPM's and frequent stops to cycle through gears and heat ranges... Took a total of 9 1/2 hours, should have been a little under 7 1/2 but wanted to break it in properly, but it was FUN!!!

The bike got baptized in Columbus, OH, ran through a good 30 to 40 mile rain storm, even though the sun was shining!! Hit a few other shouwers between Columbus and Cinni...but over all a GREAT ride and more thumbs ups, head turns, and other bikers nodding their heads in approval...What a COOL bike!!!

Ride safe, now time for 500 mile service even though  I have over 600 on her!!!

sounds good. A great break in it sounds like to me. Now for the 500 mile service:

1. change oil and filter.
2. Okay, look at some stuff. yep, it's all there.
3. go riding....

Great news Joe! Now for the next 500 miles make sure you "ride it like you stole it" once in a while to ensure everything is seats correctly for the entire RPM range and loads. Then perform another service, ride and enjoy.
