Thanks |

| Where did you plan to put a tankbag? What is the bags intended purpose?
You can't put it on the center console as it will interfere with the handlebars. That only leaves the cowl just in front of the seat which would require a very small bag. There are several almost flat map bags, look at www.mawonline.com

Posts: 742 North Orange County CA | Yeah, I'm tired of sitting on my wallet (it' s screwing up my back), the glove box is too small to hold it, and the glasses case, and the I-pod and the house/office keys and the chewing gum, the garage door opener, the cell phone, you know all the stuff that used to go in the glove boxes in the lowers on the HD that would otherwise get lost amid all the "personal beauty items" the wife has to keep in the tour-pack.
I cant continue to keep all that in stuff in my pockets cause I need room for my boy-scout knife, my worry stone, string, marbles and the frog and any cool stuff I find along my way..
When started doing inventory I realized I'm starting to sound like one of the kids from "Leave it to Beaver" no wonder in all my jeans the pockets wear out before the knees.

Posts: 8144 New Bohemia, VA | Well, at the moment the Vision Dash Organizer that I'm getting work up is on its finale. The leatherman's schedule has died down some and he's got a dash to work from. So I'm hoping this week to have a prototype complete. Then it is off to make a few to get things rolling. He'll have a good window to get some done before the hunting season rush and I hope it will be enough to get them to the ones who still want them. My next bright idea will be a V cover bag, I think I got that one thought through, but the VDO has to get done first. |

| Not sure this helps Fred but I toss mine in the bag behind my Utopia backrest. Have a look at mawonline, maybe JP cycles and a few others. I'm sure somebody makes something that will work |

With all the gear you need maybe one of these is your solution:

What is that, an LL Bean Fly fishing vest or some kind of White Hunter / War Corespondent / Photographer on Safari thing? Are those pads in the back CE armor, floatation or flack inserts?
Maybe I should just just hire a sherpa to carry all my crap, but then what would he ride and how would he carry his stuff and my crap?
And then there is the question if you're riding are you still sherpa-ing? And if so, is a riding sherpa entitled to hazard pay?
Would they have to provide their own gear (like the police), or am I responsible for that?
What about insurance?
Food ? What does a sherpa eat? Are there dietary restrictions that might get me in trouble - Ive gotta have pig on occasion and shell fish, and lobster (when I'm in New England); and lodging? That is customarily tent for sherpas I think, but the wife hates camping so how do we drop the sherpa at a base camp and then make our way to the hotel? Arnt sherpas supposed to be the guides , how will I find my way back? Does VRA membership entitle me to group rates at hotels?
The cost is escalating pretty quick. Where do you put the guitar? Maybe with three of us I need a trailer. If I get a trailer then there would be a place for the tents and the cook stove and the rope and the dogs (they're only about 30 lbs each), but dog food is bulky and OH CRAP I just lost the guitar again didnt I?...........
I think I'll get a (small) tank bag. |

Tarpits,
You are the only other person I have ever heard use the word "sherpa" as a verb.
I started this about 15 years ago and I'm wondering if you came up with this on your own or if my use of the term is amusing enough to have spread all the way to cal-if-for-nye-ay.

I cant swear with certainty that I have ever had an original thought; so I'm willing to stipulate to the fact that you may be the originator (as long as I dont have to pay royalties). Which would mean that your "verbalization of a noun" has spread at least as far as Middle Tennessee, where I spent 30 of the last 40 years, and like Typhoid Mary I have now carried it to the left coast and used it on the internet where it will be seen by MILLIONS!
How would one conjugate the verb to "sherpa"?
I sherpa
you sherpa
he/she/it sherpas
Is the past tense sherpad or sherped? It's your word dude instruct me!

I like "original". Please keep using it. Most people who've met me use the word "weird".

It is just possible. I've done tons of backpacking in the Smokies and you may guess from my nick that I carry a bunch of stuff. When I saw a picture of myself looking like a Sherpa on my way up the ridge from Fontana Lake, the enverberation (there is another made-up word) of the noun just sort of came naturally. I've used it often around Gatlinburg and Cherokee... and all along the Appalachian Trail.
and like Typhoid Mary I have now carried it to the left coast and used it on the internet where it will be seen by MILLIONS!

Fred
to sherpa:
I am sherpa-ing
I have sherpa'd
He sherpas
I think theose four forms will fit infinitive, subjunctive, indicative and perfect forms of past, present and future tenses.
OKAY... I've officially gone to hell with this joke. What was the thread about again? I'll shut up. |

Posts: 1158 Richmond, Virginia | Just some information on tank bags and Victory bikes. I had a tank bag with the felt padding on it to protect from scratching etc , brand new. Put it on my Kingpin and in 4 hours it had lifted the paint from the metal surface. I was horrified, the entire painted area
looked like your arm does with goosebumps. I thought for sure I was going to have to have my tank repainted. I took off the tankbag
and luckily by the next day, the paint had settled down and there was no indication that there was any damage. I WOULD NOT put a magnetic tank bag on any painted surface JMO |
