Posts: 363 Goldsboro, NC | I wish that the Vic could get a dealership network together that is as quality as the bikes. Thank gawd for the quality of the bikes!
Yesterday, I had a problem with my battery. The cells were good, but the hot terminal had been damaged. I did not know this at the time. All I knew is that it would not start. I called the dealership (less than two miles away) and told them I was stranded. Their reply? "Can you get someone to give you a jump" It took some argument to get him to realize that this was not what I wanted to hear from a dealer. He finally agreed to see if he could get a truck down to me. Hell, he could have walked it in the time it took to get that guy to send a truck 2 miles. He was still trying to find a truck when I pulled in.
Having had a small experience with a similar problem, I removed the terminal completely except for the last 4 threads or so and reinserted it. That got the bike to start one last time. I rode it to the dealer, where the problem was diagnosed and fixed.
This dealership is a multisport dealer and they work on all sorts of stuff, so the techs are overwhelmed with work. They do seem to be pretty good on the bikes. Its just getting the permission of the manager to get work done that seems to be the bottleneck. He's more interested in new sales than supporting his existing customers.
I don't envy HD'ers about much, but their support network is hard to beat (if expensive).
Just had to vent. "Can you get someone to give you a jump" my hairy, dimpled, yankee buttucks.
Again, I thank the quality if the bike. If I had to deal with this schmuck as often as I dealt with my HD dealer, I'd have to slit my wrists. | |

Posts: 8144 New Bohemia, VA | TB, I can't say I feel your pain, but I know my dealer is closed for the week to be at the dealer meeting for the unveiling for the 2010. My thought was when I stopped by yesterday and found this out is that I was glad I didn't really need anything.
BTW, I'm passing through Goldsboro sometime on Saturday morning and in the evening, coming and going to see the granders. Just wanted to let you know if you wanted to grab a cup of joe or something.
