Other than the obvious wheels, forks and price difference are there any mechanical electrical differences that should lead me to buy on year over the other? I know thw cam followers are different.

Walt,

The other one that I know of, the Reverse Kit is only for the 2009.

the only thing you guys left out that was changed was the upgraded stereo system, it doesnt fall into your "mechanical" area, but it is the only other difference in the model years that hasnt already been mentioned above.

My dealer told me the front end of the '09 is 14 pounds lighter. No reason not to believe him. Feels like it. Bigger cam (not sure how big) seems to make a noticeable difference. Had an '08 for 9 months. Have had the '09 for 5 months. Like this one better. As mentioned, different wheels look WAY better.

I have not seen it documented anywhere that the 2009 is lighter then the 2008 Vision.

oh isnt there something else different too. i think i remember reading where they made the 09 headlight Not come on until the bike is actually started? to save battery power if you are low and trying to start your Vision.. is this true?

I just got an 09, the headlight comes on when you turn the bike on with the key, not when you start the engine

Probably a psychological difference, the engine specs are the same for both years.

If the HID light is switched on that light will come on when you turn the key but the main light will not until the bike is started on an 09. I also believe the guage backlighting is a little better on an 09

You can't even see the wheels...brakes, paniers, etc. all in the way...I'll keep the extra money they want for the 2009. If you think you can see the wheels...sit down on the ground and try to clean the wheels, it's a pain with all the stuff in the way you can even get at them.

Your dealer is thinking about steel frame bikes, and not the Vision. Weight on the Vision is the same. There are now two vendors for the forks[Marzucci, and Kyaba], and which one you get is luck of the the draw. Both weigh the same, and though they each valve, and spring the forks differently; the final specs are the same.
Differences that I can think of off the top of my head are
Chrome forks
Chrome wheels
Start switched headlight
Improved speakers
Cam carriers[same cams]
