| Just bought an '09 Vision Tour Premium Midnight Cherry. Drug the wife over to the dealer and after a 20 mile ride she was in love. With the promotion they've got right now I got 2K off the list, a good trade in price for my '03 1300 VTX and $1,000.00 in accessories.
Now my only problem is which accessories? I pick up the bike tomorrow and they want my accessory list emailed to them before I pick up the bike. My list so far are saddlebag liners, trunk carpet, truck net and pump. I'm considering the crome rear tip over covers, luggage rack (not crazy about the look) and wondering if I should go with the Stage 1 or Stage II exhaust. The bike's got plenty of power for me as it is and I hate to spend that much just for better sound. A friend suggested the stage II saying it comes w/a K&N air filter so you never have to replace it. Looks wise I like the gatling gun tips that go w/the stage I.
I also plan on getting a Garmin 2720 as I understand it will fit on the Vision GPS mount. Has anyone done this? I'm not willing to spend a grand on a "motorcycle" GPS when I can get a decent one for less than $200.00. I figure I can fry 4 of those and still be ahead.
I've got an 80 gig Ipod classic but I know it won't hold up too long on a bike. Do I need a cable to hook up a nano? Figured I'd pick one of those up off Ebay.
I realize many of these issues have been discussed in various posts but my time is limited and I'm hoping for whatever quick feedback anyone can offer. Thanks to all for the help in the past and anything you can contribute at this point. |

Hi Shyster,
Congratulations and Good Call on the Vision!
I bought a set of the saddlebag liners took them home and filled them up and couldn't get them into the saddle bags without a huge struggle. Needless to say I returned them. JMHO
Good Luck with your new ride!

Okay if your happy with the power and the sound forget the pipes. You can still get the gun tips on the stock pipes. I think the chrome rear tip over covers is one of the most noticable changes I made on my Vision. The saddlebag liners not too important for me but the trunk liner is great. You need the ipod cable to hook up a nano and to interface with the radio controls. If your getting the 2720 0r the 2820 gps you need the Victory mount which comes with the cable to plug in and interface with the radio. I have the trunk rack on mine it looks nice and adds a nice touch of chrome to the trunk but its too small to put a large bag on it. The chrome piece that goes over the trunk lock also looks great. Hope this helps! |

Posts: 377 O'Neill, Nebraska | I'd go with the S1/L1 pipes to include dealer install. Also do some bargaining with them because when I bought mine I said my accessory $$'s should be at wholesale instead of retail....heck they just sold me a $20k bike. How much profit do they need to make off of one guy?
Great decision! |

| You may have a point regarding the Stage 1 kit. Thinking of it from a $$ perspective, it would increase the value of the bike more than saddlebags, carpets and chrome. And that stuff can easily picked up later.
This dealer's been very good to me. I've demo'd the bike twice and haunted the shop. He's got a good rep and I'm going to take him at his word that this is his bottom line, but maybe I could get him to throw in the install if I just ordered the S1 L1 w/the Gatlin tips. |

Posts: 72 Eyota, MN | I had the (I think) gen. 3 Ipod and it worked great till the backlight went out and couldn't see anything. So I took it back (I had the service plan) and they said here is a new ipod not knowing that it's now a gen. 4. It works on the bike just fine but it doesn't charge on the bike like the other one did. I took it back to Best Buy and they said that they must of changed the pins a little on this one and there's nothing they can do. The new ipod doesn't charge on the docking station either, the only way we can charge it is on the computer. So Victory has to update there ipod cable along with the ipods other wise anyone who buys a new vision and a new ipod the ipod will work fine till the battery goes dead then the radio just says aux.

Posts: 297 VA | If you have a passenger, consider getting the CB intercom. Can talk back and forth, which can sometimes be bad if you want peace and quiet. But, more importantly, you can listen to music inside the helmet speakers which is nice so you don't have to have music turned up really loud to hear it clearly. Also, the CB is nice if you ever ride with another bike and want to communicate breaks and stuff. But, use it more for the wife and I to talk and hear music. I modified a TomTOm to work on the bike, so can get almost any GPS that you want and make it work with a little bit of work. I'd like to have the higway pegs, so I could see those being nice as well. Exhaust isn't really something I want, but my last bike was loud, so I wanted something quieter. |

Posts: 34 Pensacola, FL | Congrats on joining the "Family"... My opinion is, get the S1L1 pipes.. every time I go hang out with the tech's at my local dealer, they ALWAYS tell me how much better they think my bike sounds than all the S2L2 bikes they install... Most of all... Enjoy the ride !

| Thanks to everyone for the imput. They sure didn't give me much time--I had from when I got home last night untl 9:00 this a.m. to get them a list.
I decided I'd like to try a "quiet" bike for awhile so I went for some basics and chrome. Trunk carpet, trunk "junk holder", luggage rack, chrome rear tipover covers, Gatlin tips (I like the look and if I go S1 L1 they'll already be there) and the saddlebag liners.
Only put 100 miles on it today. I was sunburnt and back sore from riding and standing around in the dealer's parking lot half the day yesterday. It's Thunder Beach here in Panama City so I headed for the back roads. So far I really love the bike.
Any suggestions for a good way to mount a drink holder? The dealer said the stock Vic cup holder was poorly designed so I skipped it. |

Posts: 3006 San Antonio, TX | I did not use the Victory cup holders. I went with two Kruzer Kaddy's.
Here is a thread that shows the Victory cup holders and the Kruzer Kaddy's.
