Here's one for the books. On my way to work I noticed my odometer read 38888 just a very short distance from the convenience store I stop at less than a mile from work. When I crank up at the store to finish the ride to work I see that the odometer read 38887 and I thought maybe I mistook a 6 for an 8. So I proceed to work, less than a mile from the store and I park, and the odometer now reads, for sure 38888. I finish the days work and I come out and fire the bike up and low and behold the odometer reads again 38887. On the way home everthing seems normal and I haven't had it go back, or I've not noticed. I just wonder if it was just a fluke or has it been doing that and it is the first I noticed.

Chris,

You do know don't you, that the Prince George area is scheduled for a time/distance warp about this time of year don't you.

We have them scheduled more often out here in Las Vegas.

I mean we still see Elvis out here more than occasionally...

here is a pic of me during our time/distance warp period.

varyder,

That is odd. I will keep an eye on it.

Man, I thought this thread was on music. I was listening to "Brick House" on the iPod this morning by the Commodores thinking, "Wow what a nice horn section they had in the studio!"

Great pic! you clean up well Ed. The stranger thing was I thought I'd be early to work and ended up being late, they worked opposite of each other this morning for some reason.

Radioteacher and varyder,

Should we be discussing music on this site? Or should we include what music to listen to when washing the Vision with hot, cold, hard, or soft water?

And Varyder, we won't have time to pass thru your area this trip. We hope to ride with VisionTex on Sunday, Songfan on Tuesday and IndianaRoadRunner on Thursday. Hope to catch you in the fall. Our bike will be wintering in Florida next year.

Chris - this 'odometer' of which you speak.... could it be a mis-spelling of 'oddometer'????
I know I have some odd numbers appearing somewhere near the Gear indicator - is that what you are referring to?
Mine seem to change regularly for no apparent reason. But I have never cared why.....

Understand Ken, I'm the prince of changed plans. I'll be watching out for you and hopefully We could catch a mile or two together as that is around the time I'll be headed for Texas on my annual visit with the son. Don't know the date at this time.

Oh, and DoneTracy, it is the first I saw it, and since you've seen it too, I'll not worry about it either. I just wonder how many miles I've lost (good thing, and bad thing) or how many I have gained. All my other readings are right on the money when riding down the highway and the odometer is accurate as well as the speed, checked against those radar thingys, but in essence I witnessed losing a mile during that little ordeal.

Have you tried adjusting the horizontal and vertical knobs.

Here I go stuttering again....

A young man walked into our insurance office to purchase coverage for his new motorcycle. Only one question confused him. "Do you have a lien holder on the vehicle?"

"I've got a kickstand," the prospect replied. "Is that the same thing?"

Knobs??? Oh, you must have a RetroVision. Everything on mine is done through infared through the brainwave controler attached to my EXO100. All I  have to do is think it. Wait, I must have been thinking backwards... there are many here that wouldn't disagree with that.

I think my odd-ometer has 'horizontal and vertical ' adjustments. Or it is trying to tell me other stuff that I don't give a crap about - like 'distance to disaster' or 'average kilometers per literage' - sometimes a large number that might mean something else.
I pretty much speed most of the time and ignore the speedometer, and the V-Twin torque means I pretty much ignore the Tach. I think the only thing I glance at is the gear/Neutral thing and the low-fuel indicator. The rest of the thingys I ignore because they have no meaning. Like Temperature - I know when its hot or cold - why do I need some gadget to tell me that.....or clock - I ain't into 'time'....

Well that would explain why I can't see anything in my mirrors....
Anyway - I'm just jealous of Chris. He has been able to exceed 60,000 KM in the time that I have only been able to enjoy 9,000 KM.
Hell, my '06 Chrysler 300 only has 30,000 KM in 3 years of ownership - and I love driving that too. So I guess an odometer is important when you are racking up the miles - 'er - kilometers. I wish I was.....
I guess I will just have to be happy that my 'mileage' is on the best bike roads on the planet.... :>
