| But I was talking with my maintenance tech from the Victory shop about having my forks service (deciding if I'll do it myself since I have hundreds of hours rebuilding/servicing suspension). Anyhow he was wondering when the steering bearings are suppose to be serviced and we couldn't find it on the web page they use. Anyone had this done or know the interval/mileage recommendation??? |

Western WA | Hey Teach,
The service manual doesn't give a specific time/mileage for replacement, it just says to inspect and replace if worn.
It also says not to remove the bearings to inspect them because they cannot be reinstalled.
Someone might have better information though. |

| I'm wondering and so was he about repacking and so on. I guess they are the seated type which means ride until they feel notchy? |

Cabot Arkansas | look on page 12.4 and further on in the maintenance manual has a picture of how to remove the bearings. it shows a standard taper bearing and race assy. |

So Cal | The only bike I have ever seen with neck bearing problems was the HD springer. I dont think the get much abuse even sonsidering their impotant function. And the lubes they have now..... |

Carl, lots of bike manufactures are using stem bearings that have a nylon cage. For the most part you are correct not a high failure item, but helps to keep them repacked at the appropriate interval since they run with minimal grease. I suspect the vision is far less susceptible to water entering these bearings. |
