Could anyone that has installed the Bushtec hitch and has any tips for the installation please post them here. I am about the start the install (next week) and was curious how difficult and or not difficult it is.

It was easy to install as I had my dealer do it.

I did mine in 4 hours start to finish including lights and two beer breaks.
It helps if you have the experience of having had the bags off once before but the directions are pretty straight forward including R&R of the bags.

My biggest tip, for me, is to have you either video record or snap a bunch of pictures of your process. You can cuss all you want in the video, I will learn from any of your mistakes.
Although our black bustec wouldn't look good behind the Super Steel Gray, it would be practical.

Oh, and I thank you ahead of time.

Sincerely, Herb

What! In the early days, I heard it was like a 6 hour job. I think that is a good price @ 50 per hour. I am free, but it would take a week, and some good instructions with pictures. LOL

Come on guys it's not that hard and if you don't have a trunk it's even easier. There are plenty of picture and easy to follow instructions with the Bushtec hitch. Spend the $300 on a nice weekend trip you and the S/O or more chrome. And besides just think of the

I am going to give it a try... I just had my second back surgery since Feb.... the first didn't work, man, I am all for do overs,,,,just not on me. I am going to try and get a friend to come over and help with the lifting (trunk....) Just curious, does anyone here use a motorcycle lift, and if so where do you tie the bike down...

I did my own, piece of cake, just take your time, lay the parts out the way you take them off and you'll have no problem. You don't need a lift but it might help to get the bike up higher. I did mine in the driveway......The instruction sheet is very detailed.

I don't know how long ago many moons is but if it's been more then 4 years you wouldn't recognize Newport. Good luck with the hitch it's pretty easy. BTW I traded the hitch pin a lock assembly for a better lock were the key inserted on the side instead of the end it makes it a lot more user friendly.
I'm going to be in Denver in August maybe we can meet up for a cup of coffee or an adult beverage.

The Bushtec instructions were excelent ,take your time and use care not to scratch any panels. If you use a tourque wrench be aware that on at least one page in the victory manual the specs. may be transposed. I placed my vision on a lift, raised chasie at the trans to make it easyer to reach between the rear tire and rear frame pieces. Just be sure youre bike is secured to the lift, I used metric eye bolts in the front tipover protecters to tie down and front wheel in lift clamp. I used velcro tape to secure isolater package and spread the hole job over a day and a half last June with no rework. Good Luck P.S. the vision pulls my trailer very well and was impressed with the quality of the hitch.

Well, three weeks to the day since my second back surgery, and I just finished installing the hitch. Man a whole bunch of bike comes off for that all to happen. All told with my aching back it took about 7 hours. I am sure it could have taken less if I was not so old...LOL... anyways.. Thanks to all for the input. I just contacted Packit Rac and they are building me a special L shaped bracket that has a receiver so I can use the Packit Rac with the hitch.

Never having had the back end apart before and dealing with a bad back i'd say 7hrs is not bad and you saved $300 in the process. What is a packit rac?
