Mine is similar numbers, with Lloydz VM1 cams, Lloydz top filter, Lloydz reprogrammed ECU, and stock exhaust. I love it.

Posts: 1632 Jasper, MO | Did you get your rev-limiter raised too? A lot of fun happens between 3500 RPM and 6000 RPM with that combination.
Lloydz increased mine to 6400 in all 6 gears, and I shift it at 6000/6100 RPM when I want to outrun GL1800 Goldwings and such. I'm about a half second and 4 to 5 MPH faster in the quarter mile than they are, as verified on an actual dragstrip. My top speed is faster than theirs too. I've seen 140 MPH under ideal conditions. I've only done it about three times, once to see if it would, and a couple more times to shut up disbelievers. I don't make a habit of it.

Posts: 44 Lackawaxen PA United States | didn't do anything with the rev-limiter .... I'll have to look into that .... took it up to 100 MPH without even realizing it , backed off figuring that was good enough , but I know she's got more in her .... don't think I'll go for the 140 though .... |

Posts: 1632 Jasper, MO | You'll find, if you flog it hard, that it will hit the stock 5500 RPM limiter quickly and very hard. You won't like it, since the bike will still be pulling very hard when it happens. This is unlike what happens with the stock cams, because they start tapering off by 4500 and are done by 5500. With your new combination, there is a lot more power between 3500 and 6000.
If you have a Power Commander, you can set it to raise the limiter by 500 RPM in each gear. In my opinion, that is still too short. You will still hit the rev-limiter, beginning at about 5750 RPM in 1st gear, and 5900 RPM in the other gears. If you call Power Commander, you can get the code to raise it by 1000 RPM, which I would recommend. This will allow you to pull all the way to 6000 without hitting the limiter.
I had Lloydz reprogram my ECU and they improved the fuel curve, the timing curve, and the rev-limiter all at once. That was many years ago.

Posts: 1632 Jasper, MO | I've used a few different ones over the years. Initially, I ran the OEM Dunlop E3s. I used them as replacement tires a couple of times. Then I tried the Bridgstone Excedras. Then I tried the Shinko SE890 touring tires.
The Dunlop E3s wore well, and handle decent, but always have that annoying howling in the corners.
The Bridgestones don't wear as well as the Dunlops, but handle better. I went through a couple of sets of them. I like the handling, but they fall short of the Dunlop E3s by a couple of thousand miles. Not a whole lot less miles, but it's noticed.
I found the Shinko SE890 to be very comparable to the Dunlop E3s in wear and handling, but at half the price. However, the Shinko front tire pattern also produces a howl that I don't like. Other than that, I like them.
Currently, I have a Bridgestone on the front, and a Shinko on the rear. I like this combination. The bike handles very well, and the tires seem to be wearing equally both front and rear.
The majority of our riding is two-up, and most of the miles on our bike is from heavily loaded trips. Your riding habits may be different, and that may have an affect on the tire life you may experience.
A friend of mine went with the new generation Dunlop E4s last time. He is getting good service from them. I will probably try them next.

| Hey thanks for replying. the reason I asked is because up to 2014 I'd been riding gl1800 goldwings (4) of them the last 15 years or so. took a ride on a vision at Daytona Bike Week and decided to plan a move-over just for the sake of change and leg room. then I discovered this forum years ago and joined up just to study-up on the bike. I read many of your threads and discovered that you ride pretty much the way I do. two-up mostly but sometimes play in the triples with friends. A few years ago Me and some of my goldwing buddies rode over to GA to stick our nose in on a Victory Cam Party run by Kevin X. Did a little trash talking and found out a little info and advice from Kevin, so now it's ON. I picked-up a 13 Vision carried it to kevin X and let him worked his magic because I surly did not want to be lagging behind and can't keep up. My Vision came with E3s, when we finally took the bikes out to play my buddy wanted to go gear for gear from a roll this way he could out pull me with his goldwing by about 4 bikes from 70 to about 110 in 5th gear. However when we dropped down to 60 and selected which ever gear we pleased I think I went to 3rd. don't know which gear he went to but we pulled strong from the start then I begin to step out on him a continued to gain about 5 bikes by the time he gave up around 115-120. Now after the E3s wore out I tried the avon cobras. these tires are very smooth in the twist-tee's but get nervous around 95 and wallows over 100. never had any of my wings act like this but always used Dunlops or Stones. The Vision did not behave this way until I had the cobras put on. now that the E3s are discontinued guess I'll try the E4s next, It's getting about that time again. Ronnie, What is the weight load capacity of the shinko journey? The e3-e4 has higher load rate than stone 704-709. Thanks. |

Posts: 1632 Jasper, MO | The Shinko tires have the same load rating as the original Dunlop E3s that were on my bike from the factory. The replacement E3s that I put on had a higher load rating than the OEMs did, for some reason. It's the same as the Bridgestones. 63 on the front and 74 on the rear.
That's also the load ratings my owner's manual calls for, so I don't worry about it.

Posts: 1632 Jasper, MO | I've experienced great stability with all the brands I've tried, even the two brand combination of Bridgestone and Shinko that I currently have on my bike.
That said, I think the Bridgestones were the best handling, of all three brands that I've used, but they were all stable at high speeds.
In my experience, the front tire affects handling more so than the rear tire. My current combination of Bridgestone front and Shinko rear seems to handle just like the two Bridgestones did. I've had it up to 120 with this combination, two-up and heavily loaded. It tracked like it was on rails.
I've found that tire inflation pressure affects handling a great deal. The Dunlop E3s like 40 front and 42 rear. Same with the Shinkos. The Bridgestones handle best with 38 front and 40 rear, on my bike, when I had two Bridgestones. I'm running 38 in my front Bridestone and 42 in my rear Shinko now.

| thanks for all that info. very interesting. do you have your trunk on or off. never had mine off. Wonder what difference that would make at high speed . Or lower air vents which I also have. Those avon cobras seemed to have brought out the worse in my bike for high speed. glad they are about gone now, trying to decide which ones to try next. thanks. Jimmie in Birmingham |

| Oh, has anyone discovered whether those size 200/16 rear tires that comes on the new Goldwings and ventures will fit on the vision? That would seem like an up-grade! |
