Just bought the 2009 Victory Vision. I traded in my 2008 Vision. Bought the '08 back in March. The dealer called me up and told me about the 2009 and made an offer I couldn't refuse. Bought a Black Cherry, 2009 with the reverse option for $21K (out the door). 3 months ago, I went to the dealer to check out the '09 to see if there were any improvement. The '09 has the hardware on it that allowed me to do the reverse option. Any differences? First off, the bags fit WAY better than the previous. No problems with opening and closing. They've put some rubber tubing around the lip of the bags that seems to help tremendously with being able to get a good lock on the bag. The '09 comes with chrome wheels as standard (by the way, I bought the premium package). The dealer told me that the front end is about 14 pounds lights. I can actually feel the difference. Speakers are a little better than the '08. Better mid range. I had them switch out my running lights and level 1 stage 1 exhausts. (had to pay for that) No difference with engine performance. I had to buy the flash card so they could re-map the 09 with the exhausts. Probably got taken on that, but I still saved a boat load of bucks. (anything I can do to justify buying 2 motorcycles in 8 months, I'll find it!!!)

Any riders in the Denver area that want to go riding, let me know. I live just south of Brighton, I'm retired and I'm looking for ANY excuse to hop on and GO!

I wish I was retired but I am still too young. Quite often I am really tired and sometimes sick and tired but not retired.

Enjoy the new 09. Sounds like you have a great dealer.

Congrats on the upgrade !

Any chance you can post any pictures of this rubber tubing on the bags?

Did the dealer happen to explain why would the front end be 14lbs. lighter than the 08?

What running lights did they "switch out"?

Any chance you kept your old mufflers? I might be interested in purchasing them.

Congrats on your new scoot!

The 09 premium wheels are not chromed. They are mirror polished aluminum. You will need to stay on them with polish to keep em nice and shiny.

Once you get a few miles on it, I would be curious to know what, if any, differences you see between the 2008 and 2009.
Congrats, and best of luck with your new ride!

1atom12: Sorry about the misrepresentation aregarding "chromed" vs "polished aluminum." All I know is that it's SHINY!!

Will try to post pictures of the tubing.

Not sure why it's 14 pounds lighter. Will ask when I talk to them again.

I originally had purchsed the runing lights with the '08. It's one of their accessories.

I'll break out the camera and try and get some pictures. I'm not a computer geek, so give me some time to figure out how to post them. (I decided in my life to be good looking instead of smart, so I don't know about the picture thing!)

Sorry, I don't have the old exhausts. They took them out of the new one and installed them back into my '08.

The only difference as far as performance, that I can tell, is actually just the start up. The starter doesn't seem to be as powerful as my original '08. The dealer checked the voltage, etc and everything is fine. When it's cold, it seems to just barely turn over. Didn't have that issue with the '08. I'll keep an eye on it.

The reverse on this is simple to engage, but the reverse speed is VERY slow. Had a gold wing prior to this. It's reverse was significantly faster. The slowness isn't enough for me to trade it in though!

I think I figured out what you mean by "running lights"

You mean the PIAA driving lamps located on the fork tubes....correct?

I'm interested in what the dealer says about the lighter wieght question......

Anyone else around here have an idea as to why a dealer would say that the front of an 09 Vision is 14lbs lighter than the 08??? Sounds a bit like a miscommunication....perhaps?

Lotzafun:

O.K. if you want to get technical. You're correct. They're not called "running lights." But....they're also not called "PIAA driving lamps" either. The "offical" name for these, according to Victory's web site is......."PIAA Ausiliary Light Kit." Certainly don't want to confuse anyone by incorrectly calling them running lights and/or driving lamps.

If in deed it is true that the front end is 14 pounds lighter, why WOULDN'T a dealer bring it up? The question is retorical. No response is required. GAWD!!!!!!!!! Here's an idea. Have your dealer call my dealer and they can discuss the weight issue and then get back to you with an "official" announcement as to whether the front end is lighter or not.

Yes, I'm being saurcastic! Get out and RIDE!!!!!!!! Life is too short to worry about the small crap!

If you're ever in Denver, look me up and we'll go ridin'. If we wind up in a race and I win, it's because my bike is 14 pounds lighter!!!

Greg, I must ask. What kind of resell did you get for the 08? Just outta curiosity, I'd like to see what real world depreciation looks like for these bikes.

Yes the wheels are lighter. This changes the UNSPRUNG WEIGHT of the bike which improves the handling. I haven't read a number on how many pounds that have been shed from the 2008 models but 14 lbs seems a bit high. Maybe for both wheels???. HD has been working at the same thing in their bikes for years now. You may or may not have noticed all of the wheel changes that they have made.

Thunder Have fun on your new bike with the shiney wheels and the weight advantage. I think that you have an extra 2 hp as well and a gift card for 100 free gallons of gas. I would hold off on using the gas card until gas is 4.25 per gal. Ride safe

Perhaps the 14 pounds came from your getting one of the 09 prototypes that had a 1 gallon fuel tank HA HA HA HA HA HA

sorry couldnt resist. I agree with ya on one point, some of us (myself included) need a lesson on here on how to upload photos.
I too am cursed with only being able to be pretty or smart at any given time, and so far i cant seem to let go of the pretty ha ha
(although my better half would say it stems from "pretty stupid", "pretty sarcastic", " pretty lame"........... but then Christmas jewelry
usually shuts that up............ ok, im off to the jewelry store Santa's on a mission.
