Had the 08 Vision out today,It started fine with the temp at 30 deg.Of course I've had the battery tender hooked up for the past week.When I first started out , the temp. gauge showed -9 on my
dash.After a few miles, it jumped to -1,finally after several more miles,it read the correct temp.
I was riding with my neighbor and his 08 Vision. He also experienced the same fluctuation.
Has anyone else encountered this as well, with the temp. gauge?

New York State | Yes I was out early yesterday the Temp was 21 Defrees F and my bike was showing -9 degrees F but later in the day it was correct |

Reno County, KS | Yep, I remember reading about this problem last year. Temp gauges don't like the cold. There is no fix for it. There probably never will be, sorry to say. |

When my car is parked all night in a cold garage and then i go out where its even colder i realize its gonna take a little bit of time to "catch up" |

Northeastern Penna. | Maybe you are right? My's wifes Toyota Rav4 's temp gauge started blinking the wrong temp.
the other day when it got nippy.I still think there is a fix for this from Polaris. |

Prescott Valley, AZ | I started a thread on the temp gauge last year when the temps here got down below freezing. What you are seeing is what everyone who rides a Vision in the "extreme" cold will observe. Once the temps get down below freezing the gauge gets a tad confused. I spoke to one of the Victory "engineers" at AZ Bike Week last year and he said he had never heard of anything like this and would "look into it". After many posts here it appears that the general agreement is that the - sign you see is "supposed" to indicate either twenty degrees or maybe even the teens.
In any event, Victory has said zero about this and I doubt it is anywhere near the top of their list of things needing fixes. I ride year round here (unless of course there has be moisture and the temps are freezing or lower) so I have seen this MANY times and just igmore it as I know the temp gauge is not as good as it could be. The Vision is a remarkable piece of engineering, a bike that rides like no other, and gets more "looks" than nearly any other motor vehicle on the road. And always remember, if your temp gauge is reading wierd turn the seats and grips up to HIGH and ride on!!

Tacoma, WA | Yep, it seems to only freak out under 32 degrees... I experienced it last winter repeatedly. I don't care, really. If the guage freaks, it is just a day to button my top button...-----Metalguy |

| Actually the temp gauge is like any gauge on the dashboard. We call them an idiot light. The temp gauge is saying, "Only an idiot would go out when it drops below 32." Couldn't resist.
I hope you posted on the Toyota site how poor their temp gauge works? |

O'Neill, Nebraska | Besides the total 'biker attitude' it must take to ride at 9 degrees, I believe the gauge is off a bit anyway.
Does anyone else have a temp gauge that shows about 5 degrees warmer than it really is? For example in the 'Texas Winter' (June--Sept) I've ridden on days where the temp gauge indicates 107 degrees, but my hunch is it's not quite that hot.
What's your experience? |

I can see it now, due to poor quality, we will have to bail out Toyota in about 10 years!  |

savannah ga | HI ALL Just picked up my 08 2 weeks ago and i also noticed the -9 problem . When i went to the dealer for my 500 mile service i told him . His replie was never heard of it and the owner said he wouldnt even worry about it . Ya well i like to know how cold it is just for my personal record . so iam putting down -9 sounds good lol . |
