Posts: 1117 Northeast Ohio | I am looking to buy the 550 and was wondering if anyone subscribes to the XM Weather too? I think this would be an invaluable tool for those that want to dodge the rain bullets.
I have found a few sites (Winger sites) that basically say the 550 isn't as capable their marine counter parts.
I am trying to understand if the 550 will overlay radar onto your maps as you are driving.
Thanks! | |

| Have the 550 for couple years now great unit, however I too was interested in the XM data for weather which I subscribed for along with XM music, however the draw back to this unit is that a separate purchase for the GXM 30 antenna is required to accomplish this found a used one for approximately $90.00, XM music didn't work all the well was constantly getting dropped especially in wooded areas and never did get the weather data to work, talked to XM they blamed Garmin---Garmin blamed XM both stated there should be no reason for not receiving the weather data, have since dropped their services and just use the MP3 portion which works great, but yea know what you are talking about we all have mycast weather on our phones works great bring up forecast, radar, etc at $3.99 a month money well spent, drove around many a storm.
