The width of the lower 48 is 2680 miles. 2680 X 6 = 16,080 miles. Is that a big improvement over the E3 or some of the other brands?

Posts: 3773 Pittsburgh, PA | says you can cross the country 6 times... BUT THEN ... the rear tire boosts mileage by five percent over Dunlop?s E3 Multi-Tread tire and is significantly quieter.
i sure hope it is quieter cause i HATE my E3 MT rear tire !! the most noisy rear tire i have ever had...
so if the E4 can last 6 times crossing the country.. but only last 5% more than the E3 MT.. how many times cause the E3-MT cross the country ? |

I got 16K miles on my E-3s. They still had some tread left but I was already getting a service done, so had them changed. I use Ride-on. I went to the Michelin Commander 2s. |

Posts: 880 Orlando, FL | There is a long standing rule in tires. You can only get three things. Handling. Mileage. Price. More of one means a sacrifice on the others. Anyone that tells you otherwise is just handing you BS. I ignored that rule and allowed myself to be swayed by the Michelin Commander II's. After all, they were Michelins! I am sure that move by Michelin prompted this move by Dunlop. Well folks, the Commander II's SUCK IN HANDLING! Yea, a lot of folks will disagree. But I ride hard in rain or sunshine. And I slip and spin my rear all the time in wet conditions with the Commanders in the same situations that the Avon's have gripped like glue. That's MY experience, yours may differ.

Posts: 1229 Rancho Cucamonga, CA | I agree with MaddMAx, Commander IIs do not handle as well as the E3s, but you do get longer life. I'm at 11k on the Michelins and they hardly look worn.
I hate to say it, but because someone already asked, I will. The Dunlop Wintersport car tire I tried prior handled better than the Michelin and lasted much longer than the E3. I think It is because it has a softer compound than either. Normally that would mean faster wear, but because it had deeper tread and a wider footprint, it lasted longer.
I will try the E4 next, but that might be another 10K away.
E3 (Old style) 16k front- 12k rear
Dunlop Wintersport CT 24k rear
E3 RT 17k front - 14k Rear
Michelin Commander II 11k front - 11k rear with 5-6mm to go |

|
Since someone ask my CT Bridgestone Potenza G019, handle good, had good tracktion (cornering & wet), the wear was great. About 45000, Think the last 10000 the handling wasn't that great, I blamed it on my new passenger that I wasn't use to. But when I put the new Good Year Asurrence on The handling was good again. The old tire was woren pretty flat.

Posts: 6 Price, UT | I am intrigued by the multiple compounds in this tire because the problem with rear tires that last a long time end up flat on top before the tread is gone. I know low prices means low quality, but I have used Shinko tires and found them to be a softer rubber that provides real grip to the road even when it is cold. The longevity of the tire is shorter than the dunlops, but handle much better. I have heard of people having trouble with them, but I have had them on a Valkyrie and now my Vision and so far have had a good experience with them. I will keep an eye on them to see how they wear and deteriorate compared to my experience with dunlops. Anybody else had any experience with them long term? If I have the money, these Dunlops look like the ones I would consider. |

Posts: 1308 Sand Rock, AL United States | I'm getting a rear tire today for Ruby86. My tech also was unaware of the release of the E4. I told him if it was available and compatibly priced, get it but that I was perfectly content with the E3. So , I don't know which he went with. I'll find out today. |

Posts: 196 Asheville, NC | I believe they should be mounted by now. I can't get back to my dealer in Maggie Valley until this coming Friday or Saturday. Rain predicted both days. I'll get to try my brand new Elite 4's from Maggie Valley back to Asheville via the Blue Ridge Parkway WET. Can't wait.
Then it's fresh oil and filter before heading out for Rolling Thunder.

Posts: 196 Asheville, NC | Well, they're on and I like them. They handle well, that center groove on the front didn't "track" on asphalt seams or where the pavement is giving way on the Blue Ridge Pkwy. Quiet at speed cornering where the E3's were noisey. They do sound like snow tires when coasting in to a stop. I attribute that to being brand new, the harder compound and the additional tread pattern toward the center of the rear tire. I'm pleased so far, they handle nicely. For $490. total, mounted and balanced it works for me. Setting out Friday for Washington DC. Gonna burn em in on a long run. |

Posts: 115 Katy, TX United States | I got back yesterday from my trip and put about 1500 miles on the E4 (rear tire). I like it. It was quite and handled very well. We rode some very challenging, twisties (3 twisted sisters and more) with no problems. Grip was great. Even had to cross some high water up to 3 - 4 inches deep with no problem. I will definitely put an E4 on the front when the time comes.

Posts: 196 Asheville, NC | I put 499.7 miles on mine today. Combo of rolling fast on the super slabs mostly 80 mph but took it up to 90, then 100 with no issues. Rode them in spotty rain on the BRP. STUCK like glue at 55 to 60 mph in the curves. I'm still ☺

| Just joined the e4 club. After 14K miles mostly 2 up on my E3 and the E4 for $203 at the local bike shop, I decided to give it a go too. Install Thursday and 570 mile trip planed the next Monday. I will know how she does 2 up and a good combo of roads

Posts: 575 Spirit Lake IA "Birthplace of Victory Motorcycles" | Just ordered a set of Dunlop E4's to replace my E3's. Local Victory dealer said he couldn't get E4's in and was not too anxious to mount them if I didn't buy them for MSRP prices through him. Guess I'll do like I did last time I needed new shoes. I'll disassemble, take them to local tire shop to mount, then I'll button her back up. Will save me over $400. |

Posts: 226 on the edge of Los Angeles | Wife and I just completed a 4700+ mile road trip my Vision and her XC. Canada is amazing! Put on new E4 rears at the start. Handling ride and wet weather we had no issues. One of the most interesting things was depending on the pavement (dry) the tires had a squeaking sound or a growl so to speak that you could hear when riding behind it. No big thing but never heard that before with other E3's Bridgestones or Avons. Time will tell if it starts to generate the corning noise as the tire wears. Either way very happy!
