Posts: 87 Lusby,Md | I bought the Victory heel-toe shifter and found it to be not to comfortable, you have to raise your heel too much.Adjust it to bring it down and the toe is too high.So I took off the heel block that Victory puts on and put a peg and that works good .There's a fine line in the adjustment because it sits so close to the floor board but it's more comfortable to me and there's still plenty of room on the floor board for your feet.Anybody else have any comments on this? |

Posts: 404 San Antonio, TX United States | I am glad you guys can use it. I was just happy that the heel-toe shifter was not stock. I would have had to take a hack saw to the back part. Just never got the hang of the heel toe thing. The few times i used them i either dropped the bike because of knocking it into neutral as i put my foot back on the floor board while taking off or misshifted while entering a turn and scared the hell out of myself when it was not in the gear i was suppsed to be in while accelerating out. |

| I remember not liking the heal shifter on my '99. Do you remember the trannys in them? Sue "demanded' that I use the heel shifter. It made sure the older tranny got into gear the first time. Now I have trouble riding a bike that doesn't have one.
Some people adapt to new things and some people are afraid to adapt cause then they would have to stop hating it. ) |

I am going to send out an e-mail to them requesting one for the vision right now. I am also going to send this to my dealer.

Posts: 460 Centennial, CO | Teacher...the piece IS solid. You cannot adjust independently. Here is the trick:
1. Remove stock toe only shifter
2. Remove peg from toe only shifter and set aside (you'll need a good pair of channel locks and some good uuumf to get it off)
3. Remove heel chrome piece from heel/toe shifter and do something (don't care what) with it
4. Screw in the toe shifter peg you set side
5. Install heel/toe shifter
6. Adjust accordingly - There is a fine line when adjusting and I found that I needed to have the shifter in the middle alignment hole for the adjusting arm to be long enough to allow both the front and rear to be as low as possible.
7. Ride and enjoy
I AM going to cut down my rear peg to about 1/2 the length it is as stock. I find that since I rode with the chrome heel for so long that I am constantly moving my heel too far in towards the bike and don't need the 2 inches that the heel has on it now. I think this will help! |

Posts: 3006 San Antonio, TX | Here is a write up of my Heel Toe install. I had trouble getting the new shifter to go on the Hex Shaped shaft. I used a vice to press it on.

Elroyj,
Thanks for the tip on the middle position to adjust the shifter using standard pegs. I tried and could not adjust it enough. I am thinking about shortening the adjustment "all-thread rod" to make it work in the rear position.

Radio...ANYTIME! Happy to help! I had thought about cutting down the all thread as well to get it to adjust at the rear position as the middle (for me) is too far forward for the toe and the heel hits the shifter a LOT. So, this is my next project. It will only take a few minutes I am sure and only a little cutting. I am guessing that a little will go a LONG ways when cutting this down.
Gadget...The link Radio provided is pretty good. Let me know if you still need further instructions. It really isn't difficult at all unless you really never wrench your own bike. I have a few friends like that and I have no problem walking them through things OR helping the do it. So, let me know.
BTW...Gadget...is this the same person from Gadgets Fixit Page for Vulcans? |
