Posts: 244 Lindale, TX | I got to ride a Vision Tour Premium last Friday at Magnum Power Sports in Nashwauk, MN. I live in East Texas, but was there for a wedding so what the heck....visited a Victory dealer. The sales staff were friendly and they had great deals as cycle season is over in Northern Minnesota.
Background: I am 40ish and have been riding motorcycles for over 25 years. I'm 6'7" and weigh about 280. I have spent the last few years trying to find the perfect bike for a tall rider. I have recently owned a Kawasaki 1600 Nomad (okay fit but wanted full touring). I currrently own a BMW K1200LT (excellent quality and finish, fun to ride but my knees are not happy with the sport-touring position). I have been lusting after a Gold Wing GL1800 (again the fairing and my knees don't get along).
I took a 30 minute ride on the Vision on a beautiful brisk fall day. Comfort is the best I have felt. This bike is great for a tall long legged Texan and it didn't even have highway pegs. Seats were great and the heaters worked well. I could use the Tall windshield as 2 extra inches would be just right.
Questions:
1. How reliable is the air/oiled cooled engine compared to the liquid cooled engines on other touring bikes (K1200LT, GL1800 etc.) ?
2. How reliable is the six speed transmission? Sure was loud into gear.
3. I have gone to Russell Day-Long seats on the last bikes I owned. For you high milers, how does this stock seat hold up?
Thanks |

Posts: 293 Arkansas | I think the majority of Vision owners will tell you that you don't need to worry
about a new seat. I have riden for 500 mi per day with no complaint. I've had two
HD tourers and a gl1800 recently and had HD, Corbin and Mustang seats: none were any
better than this stock seat. If I ever do anything to the seat, it will just be to cover with
leather so it will breathe a little bit.

Posts: 495 Carrollton, TX | I have over 23,500 miles on my Vision and not a single problem. The engine is rock solid as well as the transmission. The transmission noise will subside in a few thousand miles. The seat is the most comfortable seat I have ever had on a bike. I had to buy Mustang or Corbin seats for my last bikes but this stock seat is off the chart. I have done over 4 over 1,000 mile days and one of them was 1,438 miles in 24 hours and I didn't have any soreness at all. Each mile just gets better and better. |
