Posts: 2027 Brighton, TN | Mines a little different and confusing. Grew up on a farm raising 45,000 chickens in the mid 1970's when CB's were popular. My father, was know as chicken man on the CB and gave me the handle of chicken little. Years go by and time to sign up for e-mail. Do a search for chicken little and unable to use due to being taken by a cartoon character and others that think like him. I mean every version that I could think of was taken (chickenlittle1, 1chickenlittle, etc.) So, with great wisdom, I said hmmm! I've had Spanish and what was that word for chicken. Oh yeah, Pollo! Had I been a little smarter, I would have also found out what the word for, little, was in Spanish. So, in true genius fashion, pollolittle was born. The name and e-mail have stuck and confused people for about 18 years.

I also heat-treat various aircraft alloys, and brush plate, and am a certified aircraft and missle welder. I also do CNC programming, and make parts using those processes as well. So....metalguy fits, after around 18 years of that stuff!

| Well, like pollolittle my handle is also the CB handle that I was given when I was in my late teens and started chatting with my towns local CB group. One of my good friends that has known me since I was even younger kept telling everyone the CB group about all the trips and traveling I did with my father all over this country and most of Europe, so during the first coffee meet with these CBers they gave me my handle of Travelin' Man, it's stuck and I use it for most of my chat forum names. One of the unfortunate downsides to the proliferation of cell phones and Nextel type phones has been the decline of local CB chat groups.......it used to be an inexpensive (gas was a lot cheaper) was of entertaining oneself by playing CB fox hunt. If you've ever talked on a local CB group then you know what a fox hunt is........

I wish Victory would turn him loose with no regard for who the competition is. He has some mind blowing ideas in his head that will probably never see the light of day. Didn't know a thing about him until I started digging for background info on the Vision.

Posts: 3006 San Antonio, TX | In 1986, after passing two tests, I received my Amateur Radio license from the FCC. My life has changed a lot since then. I have changed careers from school maintenance and construction to information technology. I have enjoyed all of the jobs I have worked because of the satisfaction that comes from building new stuff and fixing broken stuff.
In 2001 I started teaching the Technician License classes for my club, the San Antonio Radio Club found at http://W5SC.org on the web. I really enjoyed teaching but kept my day job.
Two years ago, I worked with other instructors to create a free study guide for the current Technician License test. At first is was called the Radio Teacher Project but now it can be found at http://www.HamElmer.com . Ham Elmer is just slang for "Amateur Radio Mentor" or in other words a Radio Teacher.
Since February of this year the rules have changed and no Morse code is required for any Amateur Radio license. You can learn the code if you want to but it is not a requirement.

Posts: 266 Stockton, Ca. | Funny to See Travelin Man on the site I used to use that as my CB handle years ago in So. Ca. Okthenbye came from an old group of friends that I worked with in the mid 70s (car stereo business in Hollywood). It was used in a joking fashion to quickly end a conversation and move on "ok then...bye!. It didn't take long for it to become a common slang word for the group. When creating my first screen name Travelin Man was taken so I chose Okthenbye, it was available and still seems to work whenever I need it. It has grown on me and is a great way to end an email message.

Which is what I mean by ownership. The guy running it might as well own it, he knows how to use it. Like me just don't have the exact amount of Ben Franklins to put one in my shop or I probably would. |

Posts: 354 20 miles west of Chicago. | Short for Curmudgeon, ' cause I'm a grumpy, sarcastic old geezer. Not helpin' at the moment that there's ice on the streets, temps in the 20's, my back is acting up, and the KP is up on lift in the garage. A couple of weeks ago I supported my local Vic dealer by lending him a thousand dollars at 0% interest for an unspecified length of time. I'm hoping that someone who ordered a Vision earlier will refuse it when it comes in and the dealer, in consideration of my kindness in floating him this loan and not wishing to store the Vision, will offer it to me. Being a Curmudgeon, I'm not too hopefull that this will be anytime soon. Just because I haven't gone into complete despair however, I've cleared out space in the garage just in case. One of my riding buddys (2000 TC) doesn't like the looks of the Vision, "Too many curves", but I think it's mechanically superior to anything out there, and I was a real big Flash Gordon fan when I was a kid so the looks are just fine with me. |

Posts: 63 Corpus Christi Tx. | I ride an 05 Victory Hammer and I was at a local biker bar and grill that was mostly HD's and was challenged by a Harley rider to a race. I don't particularly like to race on the streets, or race at all for that matter, but his HD buddies just kept ribbing him to call me out. I sofltly declined his offer to a race against his hopped up HD and he called me a chicken and that Victory motorcycles are HD wannabes. My buddy, who rides a Vegas, convinced me to take this guy on cause the Harley crowd around the other guy were laughing and making fun of our bikes. Enough was enough so I walked over to him and said...''are you ready big mouth.'' To make a long story short, my Hammer took him bad.....really bad...enough that he did not go back to the bar because of embarrasment and could not face his supporting buddies. One of his friends, who tagged along, told the others that my Hammer crushed the Harley like a sledgehammer.......hence the name.
Ride safe.

Posts: 904 29 Palms California | Mudge, hang in there brother. I'm a very "crotchety" young geezer. I also, loaned my dealer 1k since aug. however, my loan enforcement agent (wife) decided I should see if a different, more appreciative dealer, who might take on the no interest loan. Since my original pre-order had been on a so called "hiatus" since Sept 14. (suspect sunning itself in the bahama's or something) I choose a different dealer to cinch a deal. 180 miles away, a dealer had the bike i wanted, and to my delight was willing to release a midnight cherry premium to me. I immediatley informed the o% interest loan dealer, i prefer my loan returned and will seek my Vision else where. And that's that. My preorder is on a truck somewhere (For the 5th time) , and i could give a hoot, because i've been in the wind for a week. And dollars to dog-nuts, that pre order still hasn't made it to it's destination....Since my dilema was about 4 months long, I put a help call out on this site, and had contact with my "new" dealer within 2 hours, and on MY new bike within 2 days. Give it a try! I almost went on a killing spree!! |

I took it to the local HOG club monthly meeting and everyone actually complimented the Vision but their response was ...it looks like a starship...................so it was tagged.......................STARSHIP 1.
And the crowning point was when I was able to get the license plate....STRSHP.

Now that is the coolest job on the boards! I love magic shows. And I love knowing how it all works. The best thing for me is that knowing how it works doesn't spoil it all for me. I still admire how they are able to pull off the illusion. I once got to hob-nob at the Magic Castle with a bunch of professional magicians. It was like being in heaven that night. |
