Got the CB version validated last week and I'm running the old 4.08 version. Dealer called today and said they had expected a flash to update, but Victory says there is no flash, but a new unit to bring it up to speed, should be here next week.

Got my bike beginning of September....did the hold the search & mode button thing to find out the version that was on it...it was 5.73 or something like that...CB works great. Doubt I'll every use it, never did on my last bike either...but you get it with the intercom which was a must have you just have to buy the antenna....no brainer.

VA, did they replace it because it was not working, or because it is very low volume, or was there another issue. Mine is very hard to hear, just wondering if that was your issue.

The real issue is that the 4.08 cb is not updatable, but yes I have a very low volume. At 30max, it sounds like it is at 8. Though I knew that they would have to replace it from the forum here, the dealer had no clue that the cb was even an issue. When he called for the flash that's when they told him. Now, it seems to me that Victory knowing this is a problem would have sent out new units without the customer complaining first. As I understand it all the 4.08 has the problem. I wonder how many will have to be purchased outside the warranty because Victory didn't send out a new unit and the customer didn't ask. I guess I sound like I'm starting a complaint thread again but I'm just thinking out loud with my fingers. I will say, I hope the new unit is as good as the old one in talking distance.

I've always thought mine was very low, but I guess now I have something to check. I appreciate you posting this here. I checked my version and it is 5.09A and the harware is 6. What is the latest version of the CB volume? Is 5.73 the latest? I'd like to know so when I call the dealer I can tell them what it is that I need. Thanks again for the post, I thought it was something I just had to live with.

I'm not sure Marc, I wish I knew, I didn't check the Hardware Version either. From all I've read and what I know is that the 4.08software version is not good and they can't upgrade, I don't know what my hardverision is but I guess I could check. When they called Victory they said that they have to send a new unit and it would be in next week. I'll know more then. Mine was installed afterwards so it didn't come with the bike, but I wish they had sent out a message telling all owners of cb's to check and if it is XX then you're good or bad. And if you're bad we'll send you one. This is a tough guessing game and a lot of people will miss out, I'm sure.

I've only used my CB once, on one trip. It was very hard to hear, even on max volume. I just figured it was  something to have to deal with. I'll have to go check the hardware, and call my dealer. I just bought a 4 year extended warranty the other day, through my dealer.

Are those of you with the low volume using the Victory headsets, or some other brand? I'm using J&M headsets and the volume is very loud. My radio is SW 4.13, the CB is SW 5.09 HW 6.0.

Gagirl, how much was the extended warranty? I was considering buying this the closer I get to my one year anniversary (April 09).

rdbudd, I'm using the Victory headsets. Was there any modification to use the JM's? If so, what did you do. If JM sells one that works with the Victory unit, how much did it cost?

No modification to use the J&M headsets. They just plug in. J&M has 3 or 4 grades of headsets available. The prices range from $110 to $250, depending on what you want as far as audio quality. They are all 2-piece cords, which is really handy. The 2-piece cord lets you leave the cord on the bike when you take your helmet with you. The 2-piece cord also lets you use their headsets on nearly any bike just by getting the proper lower cord to match the particular bike. I'm using the 377 series headsets, which retail for $169.95, plus the lower cord to match the Vision, which retails for $22.95. It looks like the 377 series has been replaced by the 279 series in this year's catalogue. John Lazzeroni (the J in J&M) is the guy who invented the whole concept of motorcycle audio 30 years ago. They make good stuff, and stand behind it. J&M is the OEM supplier of headsets for many bike makers, such as the folks who make the Goldwing. Any shop which caters to the touring bike crowd will have the J&M line, although they will probably have to order the lower cord for the Vision. http://jmcorp.com

A couple of very good places to get such things via the internet are Cycle Gadets http://cyclegadget.com and Sierra Electronics http://sierra-mc.com Sierra has the older 277 series on sale right now for $120. I would check to make sure that they are compatible with the newer plug style before buying though. I do not know if they could be used with the Vision, because of the newer style 2-piece cord being used on everything today.

Two question answered in one reply here:

I am using the J&M Elite headset. I have the J&M CB on my ST1300 and the volume on that one doesn't even need to be above 30% of the full turn of the volume dial (it's almost making my ears bleed at that...)

The extended warranty was about $1200 to make the warranty for 5 years total (4 year extended) Includes road side assistance, & road hazard, $50 deductible.

This is one I've been fighting for a year. Thanks so much for posting this info.
I just checked and my CD is at 4.08A. I got the 4.13 audio update long ago hoping it would fix the low CB volume (can't hear at 30). Dealer in Birmingham doesn't have a clue.

$615 for the 4 year warranty at Rocket City Powersports in Huntsville 256-258-0440.
Talk to Scott. I did for the first time last week and he seems to be the most knowledgable person I've meet yet about the Vision and the different issues and most of all how to handle them.

I mentioned the 4 year warranty in the previous post. It's actually 4 additional years, totaling 5.

For about 8 weeks now I've been trying to get mine to work. Head unit and CB have been replaced w/09 models. Using J&M headset. Receives and sounds great, the problem is transmitting, it's showing the TX on the display but no one can hear me. Victory said I had the mike turned around. Set-up was used on 2 other bikes and it works fine. The only thing they hear is a click when I hit the PTT button. Dealer told me on Friday that there is an update. If that doesn't work they get it back minus the pieces that would leave holes. how stupid was I to spend $700.00 for a black box that doesn't work. Even called Victory to speak with Mark Blackwell. Was told they don't know who he is.

Sounds like the cable between the J&M headset and the Vision is the cable for the Harley. Make sure you have the correct cable for the Vision.

varyder, how about an update on the CB replacement?
Did the radio come in and did it fix the issues you had?

I took mine in and read off all of the version info to the service writer at the dealership. Waited a week and called today to see if he had gotten any response from Victory. He had received a message saying that they needed all the version info on all audio components. That's what we sent them, he's contacting them again to see specifically what they're looking for.
While I was there a week ago I had them file a claim for the dimple on the right saddlebag. They sent a note back saying send a photo. arrggghh.
I told them my gear indicator fluctuates between gears in 1st and 2nd. They sent a note back asking when it does it?????
I haven't seen the last one I reported on here yet. When I've got the heated grips on high, the throttle sticks in position. They said they were researching this one.
Still LOVE this bike. Asking Santa for chrome front wheel and forks....I've been really good.

Naw! No radio when I left, it is like everything else, wait! I wasn't surprised though.
