Posts: 4 , NC United States | Went riding couple hours, head lights on low beam, see picture.
I did notice lights appeared bright on road but was dusk when got home, normal temp day around 70f, after walking in garage next morning to find to melted spots on the head light lens cover.
I've felt a little heat before from bulbs and assumed normal.
I can only imaging the regulator is not working and the lights are receiving the total amperage from the charging system.
Let me know if anyone has ever seen this before and guess where I need to start to fix. Ron

| you don't say what year it is. Thats a NO NO.
Turn key on and look at volt meter that will tell you if battery is good. 12v not start bike gauge should be 14.2v that tells you bike is charging. Over 14.2v
that is not good. Your regular might be bad or your stator.
If the headlight was getting to much juice so would all the other lights.
New headlight is $500 bucks.
This dealer had one on close out table for $200 you would have to call them http://www.motoprimo.net/ |

Posts: 4 , NC United States | The volt meter is reading 15V, I did keep the bike stored on a battery tender, didn't think this would hurt anything, but guess battery at full charge and system pushing 15V, anyway will have to replace lens and check bulb types later in Dec, will report eventually how problem is solved, but will remove tender and run battery down below 12v before riding again. Lights still come on etc. |
