Posts: 261 Sugar Land, TX (Outside of Houston) | Just did it the other day. Had a few issues, but finally got it working
Go download the Garmin XImage Program to communicate with the 2720:
http://www8.garmin.com/support/download_details.jsp?id=545
Install the XImage Program
The next part suggests you want to use the Vision-Riders Logo (If not, then you will have to format any other picture to the same size, color depth, etc.. as the Garmin Splash Screen.
Download the 2720 Splash Screen from the Vision Riders Download Page:
http://www.vision-riders.com/downloads.asp
Rename the downloaded file to Splash Screen.gps (from the name it has on the file)
Start the XImage Program
Select your device
select to Upload an Image (Select the Splash Screen)
Navigate to the directory where you downloaded and renamed the Vision-Riders Splash Screen
The system should upload the Splash Screen Image to your Garmin
The problem I had was that the Splash Screen from Vision Riders was just a little different from the one in my Garmin (Size and properties the same but the color depth was off somehow).
To fix that, I downloaded (using the XImage program) the Garmin Splash Screen from the GPS and opened the Vision-Riders Splash Picture, copied it, then opened the Garmin Splash Screen and pasted the picture over to that file and save it. The the upload worked perfectly.
I used Roxio Photosuite to move the pictures around and save them.
Hope that helps - I am sure everyone willl encounter something different.

| rmclarty, thanks for the instructions. i got it to work. i kept trying to find the file and select it. when all i had to do is rename the file like you said and then tell the ximage program what folder, which was the desktop i saved it to. the file name wasn't showing up on the desktop thru the ximage program. i still can't figure that out. i am working with a new laptop using windows vista.
still learning. again, thank you for your time. |

I followed all your instructions and everything was fine till xlmage would not transfer the file to the gps saying the image was not the same. Tried changing it. still doesn't work. Is there anyway you can email the file that you revised to make yours work. I have the 2820 and VISTA ON MY LAPTOP. Maybe it will make a difference if it is already converted. My email is bikerdave48@comcast.net
Thanks
