Posts: 277 Apopka, FL | I have a low beam out... Unfortunately, I had both bulbs replaced just this last May, I have read through all 5 pages of "Have you replaced your Vision headlamps".
My question is, I know the bulbs are H4, but what brand are the whitest and brightest and longest? Anyone have and words of wisdom? Someone suggested these, yea? Nay? http://www.amazon.com/PIAA-10707-Night-Tech-Upgrade/dp/B00544ZDDQ/r...
BTW, I am willing to pay my dealer to replace them!!! I have to work with my hands every day and it's not worth it to get them all sore and cut up. |

Posts: 482 Beer Collins, Colorado (there is no fort) | DD, I was probably the one that recommended the PIAA bulbs. They're hard to beat for brightness (I've had an Extreme White bulb in my '99 for years) & had the Night Tech bulbs in my vision until the low beam burned out in a little over a year/10,000 miles. I don't know if the frame mounted fairing on the Vision imparts more shock/vibration that shortens bulb life? My hands are important to me too & I wanted to put something in I wouldn't have to mess with for a long time-installed dual 55W 5000K hi/low HID lights 3years/30,000+ miles ago and they continue to light up the road better than anything I've ever had on a bike (5,000 lumens per bulb!). With no filament to break these should keep me out of the bulb replacement business for a long time. Best under a $100 upgrade I've done on the Vision.

They have heavier duty vibration resistant construction that regular duty H4 bulbs don't have. They are commonly used in the trucking industry. Regular H4 won't last a month in a truck, but the LL variety lasts for a long time.
The expensive bulbs from your dealer are the OEM LL variety. You can get them cheaper elsewhere.

You installed 3 years ago, no issues with heat using the 55W bulbs? |

| I was leaning toward a set of those $!00 LED lights that are crazy bright until I read you post about these HID lights. From what I've read, unless there's a lens specifically made for an HID, the beam isn't what it "could" be whatever that means. Same with a set of LED's I think but I considering how poor the beam or spread of light is with the stock lights....personally I think they suck especially on HI....almost anything would be an improvement.
My question for you is how is the light pattern with your HID's? The stock Hi beams have dark areas and shadows all over the road and if the HID work with the stock lens I might try them. I was also wondering if you had a shop install them for you. Judging by the pics of the HID's they don't look like a simple plug and play.

Posts: 482 Beer Collins, Colorado (there is no fort) | No issues-I have noticed a slight color change between the two bulbs. The light pattern has a very distinct horizontal cut off line that can be adjusted the same as with any bulb-no issues with oncoming traffic flashing me. I did the install & everything does simply plug in-the trick is getting all the wire sorted & secured. I posted photos of the install and lighting up the road. I have heard some say the ballasts create radio interference but I haven't noticed as the radio reception was never any good to begin with. Best lights I've ever had on any motorcycle.

Posts: 8144 New Bohemia, VA | I've got both bulbs intact for about 3 years now, or more. One is a Philips, bright one, and I had a spell of those blowing every few months. I picked up some ATV long life for about $5 each, marked down at Wal-Mart. I replaced the one that was blown, again, that was about 3 years ago, and both are still going strong. I've almost forgot how to change the bulb. |

Posts: 3773 Pittsburgh, PA | On my vision I replaced my own bulbs with philips crystal vision . I didn't use H4 I used 9005. (Google it ) I did this to match the color of my HID light and it worked. I think they were like $39 for a pack of 2 |
