FYI, I went to the dealer this Saturday to get the recall and the reflash done. Made the appointment, got there a few minutes after they opened. He pulled my bike in and asked one of the other employees if they had gotten the authorization. Apparently, up until a few days ago, you came in, they hooked it up to the computer and reflashed the ECm with the new map. Victory is worried now that people are going to get the stage 1 map for free, so they make the dealer get an authorization number before they can download the map to the bike. And, guess what, they aren't open on Saturday, and a live person has to give them the authorization. So, drove an hour to the dealer and no reflash. They were very apologetic about it, but said that the guy shouldn't have had me come in on a Saturday to get the reflash because they aren't open. Pretty lame on Victory's part for not having it be an automated thing. I would think they could just have the VIN sent to them over the computer and then they download the map. Kinda like buying any other program on the internet. Just FYI in case you are going to get this done, if it's on the weekend, have them get the authorization number first.

Does anyone know how we can know for sure the dealer actually did the reflash? I had my bike in for service two weeks ago, right after the recall letter came out. They indicated to me that the recall was completed, I don't think it was done.

I would like to know also I had the Recall done but now the bike "pings " when I get on the throttle at 2-3k rpm and yes I always run super unleaded gas. did not do this before they did the re-flash.

I know DWhite28 is a VIC tech he made a post about how the reflash is done by a tech, he could tell you how to find out for sure.
I am taking my 09 in tomorrow to the dealer all the probs you guys have with your 08's I have the same thing with my 09, mine mostly dies at stop lights and has lazy acceleration.

Gee, this is my story word for word from last Saturday.
Did get my relay screws checked and they were tight.

Now I have to try it again and I don't have much free time until the middle of November.

Victory does like to try one's patience's at times!

My wife's too!
Whenever I stop at my dealer I never come home without spending some more cash on some bike goodie eerr need.

My bike is an S1L1 Vision and was reflashed last Saturday at Randy's. It made an obvious improvement.
Maybe Victory's service support is open for some dealers and not others.
I had been scheduled for over a week though so it could also be that my VIN was preauthorized by the mechanic. I really don't know. I did ask about the different d/l's and was told I definately did get a S1L1 version.

You have to have the bike to download the Service file from the ECM. The VIN number has not enough to get an authorization since I have been doing them the last few weeks. As for telling if it was done, you can ask your dealer to download a service report from your bike. The report will have information similar to below. Vehicle Information 2008 Vision Model Number V08S ECU Serial # VSQAV21KS693 VIN 5VPSD36DX83003525 Hardware Part # 4011547 ECU Part Number 4012201 Program Ver. VIS S1L2 SW Version Nr. YAAH2 Software Part # 4012210 This is only a part of the file from my Vision. So the tech or dealer can show you what version is flashed on your bike. As you will notice, the “Program Ver” shows S1L2 or Stage 1, Level 2. As for knowing whether or not he got a new authorization code, he can show you the e-mail he received from Tech support at Polaris with the authorization code.

David,
Can any dealer pull up the history by VIN and tell what recalls have completed?

Yes, any dealer can pull up a VIN and see if the recalls were performed. They have to be documented by the dealer through Polaris. As long as the dealer can remember his login and username, he can log in from any terminal connected to the internet and pull up vehicle information.

The only reason for my post was to establish that reflashes to S1L1's are done on Saturday. Someone said that they aren't.
So this means Polaris does support the dealers on Saturday.

Willie...I have the S1/L1 and was curious if this recall applied to us. I believe the dealer did the reflash that came with the S1/L1.

Is there a newer one that I should get installed?

To answer the question about doing the reflash on Saturday, apparently it changed after last week. Before that, they were able to get whatever code they needed. Don't know what changed, but apparently, Voctory corp. has to physically be open to get the authorization. My dealer said two days before he could just do it, but then they changed it. I just wanted to warn whoever hasn't had it done yet that you might not want to go in on a Saturday to do it unless the dealer already has the authorization code.

The dealer still has to have the bike to obtain the Authorization code. A service report has to be downloaded from the ECM and e-mailed to tech support to obtain an authorization code. So like we tell our customers, you can either leave the bike during the day or long enough for us to download a service report and then they can return later. When i send a service report, i dont know if i will get an answer back in 5 minutes or 5 hours. It has been this way since the day the bulletin posted. If you would like to see a copy of the technician issued bulletin, go to http://www.vision-riders.com/bb/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=1924&... and you can download a copy of the bulletin that is issued only for the dealerships.  Again, a stock reflash can be done anytime with out authorization.  A stage 1 level 1 and a stage 1 level 2 requires an authorization code.  The codes are obtained from a person at polaris that is verifying authenticity.

David White, would it be ok with you if my dealer did everything you said and only have to wait on the reply for the code?
Because if I hear you say it again I am going to scream!

I think from now on, i will just keep a copy of the link that will tie this same questions to about two other threads i have posted the same information on along with the copy of the Technical Bulletin.
And for IRR, of course you can do everything else and then wait on the code. I would hope the technician or dealer would have the common sense to tighten the nuts on the breaker and take the service report if you wanted toake your bike and then come back later in the day. But then again, there i go using those words again "Common Sense".
