This can easily be done on the bike.
Adding Rockford Fosgate T400 x4ad 400watt 4 ch amp, and (2) Rockford Fosgate T400 x2ad 400watt 2ch amp
(2) 6 1/2's for the front (Fosgates)
(2) 5 1/4's for the rear (Fosgates)
(2) 8" marine grade subs to the rear bags.
(4) Tweeters
And a bunch of other's while it is nakid. over 1200 watts Clean
1) On the left side on top of the gas tank. I am currently installing a rockford fosgate T400x4ad micro 400 watt 4 channel amp. The amp is incredibly small. 8-5/16"W x 1-15/8"H x 4-1/4"D.
The amp allows high level inputs that also double as remote turn leads on for the amp.
The front factory speaker wires can be removed from the front speakers and rerouted back to and connected to the front input of the gas tank mounted amp. Run new wires out of the amp back to the fronts speakers.
VISION- Speaker wires located under console. The big plug coming out of the radio. -
Left Front Speaker Positive - Brown/Red
Left Front Speaker Negative - Brown/Black
Right Front Speaker Positive - Gray/Red
Right Front Speaker Negative - Gray/White
Left Rear Speaker Positive - Orange/Red
Left Rear Speaker Negative - Orange/Black
Right Rear Speaker Positive - Pink/Red
Right Rear Speaker Negative - Pink/Black
2) I replaced the front factory 5 1/4 speakers with Rockford Fosgate T165, 6 1/2 two way speakers.
On the speaker itself, Minor trim work, on the metal housing between two of the mount holes, was needed. This is done so the speaker will fit the factory mount holes and the factory speaker grill fits just fine with the curve around the bezel sides.
Remove the plastic speaker box's for the fronts no longer needed. The speakers bolt right to the factory speaker mount holes using nuts and bolts instead of screwing into the speaker boxes.
The factory round circle opening for the factory 5 1/4 speaker needs to be made bigger. The opening on the stock speaker mount needed to be made slightly more open to accommodate the diameter of the 6 1/2's. just making the round opening bigger with a dermal to allow the woofer to move without touching plastic. Bolt holes still line up. DONT CUT OFF BOLT HOLES.
I ran a four conductor wire from the gas tank mounted amps inputs all the way back to the left saddle bag. Then over to the right saddle bag. (These will serve as high level, piggy backed inputs, for the 2nd & 3rd amp as well, which is located in the left/right bags). same inputs for both amps. (It's only signal and remote turn on).
FOSGATE AMPS HAVE HIGH INPUT BUILT IN AS WELL AS INPUT AND OUTPUT ADJUSTMENTS. Converter not needed.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
First. Size perspective stock to 6 1/2's
Minor cuts needed on speaker itself to fit stock space
One CUT to line up in STOCK LOCATION - LINE UP CUTS ON SPEAKER
RIM 1/8" around the circle to make 5 1/4 to 6 1/2 cutting off to ALLOW ROOM FOR THE CONE TO MOVE
AMP ON LEFT GAS TANK AS USUAL. 2nd amp in left bag. 3rd amp in right bag
FUSE BLOCK FOR ACCESSORIES IN LEFT BAG XM MOUNT HOLE. NICE ADD ON EASY REACH
all accessories run on this
WIRE LOOM EVERYTHING FRONT TO REAR neatness counts.

| How did you make your 8" wooden speaker rings? |

Posts: 167 , OH | It's band saw cut out. Similar to making a spacer for speaker mounts old school. Draw a circle on board cut it out on a band or scroll saw.
I cant remember however I think the 1st layer is 1/2 inch thick piece of wood. I think the 2nd layer is 3/4". Basically I needed to bring the recessed or offset portion of plastic upper level with the bottom. (top 1/2 of the bag wall to be flush with the bottom 1/2 of the bag wall)
Then the 2nd layer was glued to the first layer to give a flat mounting ring to mount the speaker on. The 3rd level was just thick enough so the tweeter wouldn't bottom out if the bike flexed, leaned etc. Then drilled thru all pieces of wood into the plastic on the bike. Then drilled out the plastic to make it look like a grill so air and sound could escape.
Then used alum inserts into the plastic that expand when the screw is tightened into it. PRESS those into the hole on the bike, then run a long screw thru the speaker which is up against the wood spacer, and thru all of that into the metal inserts pressed into the plastic.
