Gas Smell

eyemakewine Posted 2008-10-13 12:52 AM (#20571) Subject: Gas Smell New user Posts: 2 My Vision smells of gas when I fill up. Once the gas was actually coming up onto me in small droplets. I went to the dealer. He gave me a new gas cap. He had someone else with the same problem a week sooner. Turns out that there is a small defect in the gas tank where the cap gasket presses against. When one looks at the gas tank with the cap off, you will see the lip where the cap "prongs" insert. There are 2 holes in the lip for the prongs to fit into. It is the edge of one of the openings that is the defect that allows the gas to leak out. I took it to the dealed and could not find the problem at first then i noticed where the cap twisted on it was bent up a bit on one side and down a bit on the other side. I think i may have laied the gas nosel down and bent it a bit. we tapped it around a bit and it seems fixed now
