Posts: 323 Troy, NY | I did a 6000 miles west coast trip in 12 days that included Sturgis for 2 nights. Went from Upstate NY to Glacier National Park, Yellowstone, Grant Tetons....then to Sturgis. I saw a total of 33 Visions. Only 3 of the 33 Visions were spotted outside of Sturgis!!!! |

Posts: 33 Pillager, MN | I went to Pre-Stugis this year. Already crazy on the week prior to the Rally. Personally saw 2 Harley riders on stretchers on Tuesday (one of them later died). Like a typical Vision rider, I like to ride the curves a little aggressive and it gets pretty scary while meeting some of the Harley riders...it's obvious some of them do not know what they are doing. You wonder when/if one of them is going to try to "steer" the bike through the corner and end up taking you out while meeting them. Can't imagine the traffic during the Rally...
Lots of great roads to ride out there, but if you want to actually RIDE, going during the rally would not be much fun. |

Posts: 323 Troy, NY | Tell me about it! We saw a Harley rider almost get hit on Bear Tooth's pass as he was steering around the harpin turns. I backed off my aggressive turns more because I was worried about the idiots in the other lane!! |

Posts: 119 CASTRO VALLEY, CA United States | Spent August 1st - 5th in the Sturgis area to include Spearfish, Deadwood, Custer, Mt. Rushmore, and Devil's Tower. Got a chance to visit the Full Throttle Saloon, and saw Lynyrd Skynyrd at the Buffalo Chip. An awesome road trip to see a great American past-time. IMO, there were way too many posers pretending to be pirates. I can see why HD is the big gorilla in the world of motorcycles. If only I could have a nickel for the number of Street Glides I saw. I think I saw more HD trikes than I saw Victorys. It's cult-like! |

I agree and exactly why I'll never go. But I do love sturgis and Daytona. It gets the Harley's off the BRP and east TN mountains, no Harley road blocks!!! |

Posts: 119 CASTRO VALLEY, CA United States | It was still fun though. My red Vision stood out among the black HDs. It was also nice to cruise the streets with no helmet and jacket. Generally I'm ATGATT.
We generally kept our distance and just took it nice and slow until we were out of the area. Booze and riders in flip flops don't sound too smart to me. |
