Posts: 79 Louisville, KY | Ok I know people have talked tires a lot but My baby needs new shoes again.
I got good mileage out of the Elite 3s. I just was not too thrilled with the wet traction and the way tar snakes felt like ice.
I'm running Avon Cobras right now and they did ok, almost 10000 miles and they felt grippy. The front tire cupped bad on a road trip to alabama and they need replaced. It was a surprising fail for Avon I used to run them on my vn2000.
Who is running what tire and are you happy with them? |

Posts: 1632 Jasper, MO | I ran Dunlops for quite awhile, and generally liked them except for the Dunlop song as the tires began to cup. I ran the Bridgestones and liked them better than the Dunlops except the tire life was about 2000 to 3000 miles less than the Dunlops. I now have a set of the Shinko SE890 tires and would rate the handling and wet traction to be equal to the Dunlops and less than the Bridgestones. They don't like tar snakes any better than the Dunlops. Tire life remains to be seen, but they are wearing really well so far.

| The more you check your air the longer your tire life. Go get a good tire gauge the one that comes with the bike is junk.
When it gets over 95 degrees outside check every two weeks.
My front Metzeler ME 880 lasted 17 thousand miles
They say Avons stick like cotton candy and wear like butter

Posts: 3773 Pittsburgh, PA | my dunlop recently was screaming!!! as soon as the rear tire cupped.. wow.. was it noisy in turns. so much so i thought i had a bad wheel bearing.. i went with the newer Dunlop E3 MT. the one i had before was not the MT model. i did NOT ever like the Dunlop E3 up front.... tar snakes were like a 2 second heart attack... i went to a Avon cobra 71 and loved it.. recently i just ordered a bridgestone Exedra Max front tire.. it didnt arrive yet.. I never in 23 years of riding matched tires front and rear.. im not against it.. im just not one that "needs" to match front to back.. i have yet to find a SET that i liked.. its usually i like company (A) for the rear and company (B) for the front.. interesting what Dunlop says about cupping.. http://www.dunlopmotorcycle.com/search/?q=cupping |

Posts: 1290 Ruskin, Fl | I got great mileage out of my last E3 MT in the rear. I put a Cobra up front last month and 3K later I'm very happy with it. Just put Cobra on rear. Only a couple hundred miles so far. I'm doing almost 20K a year so if I don't like a tire it's not like I'll be stuck with it very long. |
