Newburgh,IN | Hey Gang:
Has anyone installed the Cargo Nets inside their saddlebags yet? I bought a set & was curious as to how much trouble they are to install.

Lusby,Md | A little pain,got to take the door off,but you can't put too much in them or they'll get in the way of the door closing.I had one in both saddle bags,let one go. Wish I had just not bought them. |

I must ask i just bought these tonight....how do they get in the way of the door closing....from what i see the instuctions show it in the recess off the door...so how does that stop it.....also they say nothing of taking the door off either.......to install |

| I looked at them but after taking my first trip on the bike figured they wouldn't serve any valuble purpose.

Wish I had just not bought them. I've thought about getting them knowing they logically will not hold much with the bag inserts. I had planned on using one for the registration/insurance stuff, and the other for maps, yes maps, I don't have the gps yet, and still debating, cause it is fun getting lost on the Vision. The only problem I have is do I need an expensive map holder? Also, I was looking into getting something leather made for the dash to hold stuff in. The Vision has a large dash area and it would not interfer with the view. I saw a <brand removed> the other day with one on the dash and it gave me the idea. If there are any leathercrafters out here that would like to try that, I would be willing to buy if the price is reasonable. I'm going to check locally if I can have it done, and if so, I'll share. |

LaPorte,Tx. | I have them, they hold several things that I don't use a lot. Once holds my air compressor which is a small compressor, plus hoses and wires. The other holds my rear shock air pump, bungee cords, manual and paperwork, plus a packet of first aid stuff. So they work out good for me. |

I'm working on refining my carry on list which includes the fore mentioned things of what I want for a quick grab. I would add to that my shock pump. But if you don't keep much in the bags themselves then the nets could hold more. |

| varyder, you'd be extremely happy with the bag purchase. I use my Harley bags inserts which fit just fine and make packing and unloading very easy, BUT a fellow Vision rider I know does have the Victory version. Relatively same sized bags but the Vision bag corners are designed in the shape of the compartment where as I have to push down the corners of the HD bags when loading. Don't know if you have a pair of old HD or GW bags lying around from a previous bike but if so they work out nicely.
Ok I'm cheap and couldn't see dropping the cash on the Victory specific liners when I have some that work, lol...... |

LaPorte,Tx. | I have the saddlebag liners. I use them when traveling, I can put enough in one bag for a five day trip with no problem. My wife gets the other bag, plus the trunk.  |

Bellevue, NE | I put the top half of my rain suit in one side, and the pants in the other side along with my shock air pump. You have to push the bag in before you close it and sometimes when opening it pulls the gasket. I just snap the gasket back into place. No problems and like a previous poster said, it makes for good storage for the things you don't use that often.
As a note to the comment, the rain suit wasn't used even when it was raining. Hurricane Ike chased us out of Arkansas a few weeks ago and my wing man on his Harley Ultra would first stop, put his helmet on, then stop and put his leather jacket on, then we stopped again when it started to rain harder. I bitched at him because I thought he was stopping for another cigarette. He said he had to put his rain suit on. His legs were drenched. When I didn't bother with mine he exclaimed, "Don't tell me you're dry?"
Ahhh, it sure feels good to stay dry! When we got rolling again I just followed him at his pace and had a cigarette enjoying the ride! |

Savannah, GA -Year round riding!! Yay! | I use my bags from my ST1300 sidebags. The hole opening is backwards, so I switch the left bag and the right bag, byt they work fine.

So Cal | I bought the cargo nets 6 month ago. They require drilling into the inner part of the bag. I'm picky about alignment, so taking the lid off would make it easier to drill. Haven't had the ambition to go through the process. You have to stretch them out to mark the location of the holes. looks like you'll need extra hands. Dont use the sidebags much, except to carry warm clothes. |

However, after having them for several months the velcro strips are starting to peal away from the inside of the lid. Very disappointing. Can't decide if it's worth the hassle to try and use some other type of adhesive to put them back on. I'm leaning toward just doing away from them altogether. One less place for my wife to pack crap we don't need. |

| I have basic questions due to the qualty of the photos with the instructions: are the screws and velco exposed or concealed behind the net; I assume the deeper side of the net is the back? |

Allen Park, MI | Have them both...with a 90 degree drill it is unnecessary to remove the lids. The velcro does let go after awhile but I am still able to put night glasses, flashlights, maps and all the other little things that need a place to store. |

Richmond, Virginia | I installed them, did not have to take the covers off to do it, the drilling is simple and shouldnt rock anyones boat to drill a hole through
a plastic panel. Its not like you are going to go to far and puncture through to the outside. Agreed that they do not hold a ton, but they are
great for carrying your wallet, registration etc. What I like best is that they provide more storage BEHIND them as there is open space between the inner plastic shell and the net itself. I also use the liner bags and they dont get in the way of each other. The velcro is useless and I too pop rivited the bottom corners in a few places to hold the unit in shape. A couple of small black screws and larger washers would do the same thing to hold it in place if you dont own a pop riveter. Worth it yeah, slight pain, perhaps but once its in, its useful. |

Albuquerque, NM | As I remember my install, one side of each bag can be drilled with a regular drill. I did not have a right angle'd drill and wasn't about to remove the doors. I used a thin tip soldering iron to melt holes where needed and followed up spinning a drill bit with some pliers. The velcro tape didn't hold on one side even after cleaning the area with the supplied alcohol wipe. I'll probably use some small screws to secure it. |
