You have to answer that question yourself Johnny. Why are you asking us?

Just because people have/are using cell phones... doesn't make them mandatory... nor the new rage in communications.
Some people are just fine maintaining a land line... for a lot cheaper (bundled in with a broadband connection) than what cell phone contracts cost.
So again, I ask you to answer the question that you presented in this thread about the need to have a land line.

Don't count on that cell phone in the middle of nowhere either. When one of the bikes in our group ran over something that caused a flat in Dinosaur National Park, none of the five cell phones in our group had any signal at all. Zero, zilch, nada. The 12 volt air compressor and tire plug kit saved the day. We rode quite a ways before any of us regained a cell phone signal.

One of the purposes of a motorcycle ride; is to escape some the entanglements and distractions that society all too often preoccupies one with.
Leave the phone at home. Or at least stick it in a saddlebag; so it doesn't bother you. And go for a motorcycle ride.
johhnnyvision; sounds like you are due for a motorcycle ride. You're coming across as a cynic all too often on the board. Put your knee's into the wind, young man.

Posts: 3773 Pittsburgh, PA | ive been people maintain a landline for their security systems, for the younger kids, for the ability to call 911.
In an emergency, 911 finds you when you call from a landline ? your address automatically displays on their screen. For children, babysitters, and even adults, facing an emergency is traumatic enough. Not knowing the address, or being able to speak, may mean emergency personnel don't arrive in a timely manner, Knowing where the phone is during an emergency is highly important. The time it takes to find a cell phone can feel like an eternity when time is critical. (And, what if the battery's dead? Or it's in the car?)
if at all.
now after saying that all.. we DONT have a land line.. lol |
