I went with the company line. Everyone tells me that the Tour is just a Street with a trunk. Dealer tells me the same thing.

Sooooo.... when I take advantage of the year-end price reduction and the financing offered by Polaris, I look at the inventory on the dealership floor. Hmmmmm... two Tours ready to go. One is a cancelled anniversary. Heartbreakingly tasty, but if I could afford it, I would not have had to wait for the clearance, see? The other is gray. With the weather we have here in eastern NC, I prefer the grey over the black.... but I really think the red has more potential.

There is a red street right there next to the "old gray mare". No prob, right? Get the street, pay for the tour.... get a trunk ordered in and viola... a tour!!!! NOT.

I just got my trunk today. I open the glove box and what do mine eyes behold? A gawdamm set of keys!!! They did not match the lock on the trunk to my keys and now I have to carry around another one of the friggin' things. I had to go back to work and the dealer said he was going to call Polaris. Before I even get back to my desk (3 1/2 minutes away plus one smoke to calm down), there is voice mail telling me Polaris will not / can not match locks to a key. The only way to get them to match is to replace all four locks at the same time.

I didn't even ask how much THAT would cost. The bike's 10 days old and this is no less a flaw that if someone had keyed my paint job. Awesome bike, but now I'm torqued at the whole lying crap sandwich I've just been handed.

Ok, I have to agree that this is NOT cool! AND, I am SURE there is a way to make the keys happen. Give a locksmith a call...do NOT have him come out. Discuss the potential.

I would be interested to hear.

Sorry dude...feel your pain. Had the same thing happen on another product. SUX when people do that!

HD will just take your key code when you order a trunk lock and it comes in al matched up. Victory can do it--- their culture/philosophy just won't let them go that extra mile. I like Victory and the bike even more, but these little snobby snips they do, irritate me.

Yeah, I was just gonna say: What the hell about the key codes. Its how everyone else matches replacement locks.

folks simmer down, I bought my street and then purchased the trunk separately. It comes with all new key locks, one for the ignition, three for the trunk and bags. Only one key. I only know this from experience. Have your dealer fix it.

Dude, no offense, but I think you're overreacting just a bit here. Worst case scenario is that you'd have to carry an extra key. I had to do that on my Kingpin for years.

In reality, though, I think you need to get your dealer in gear. I would suspect that he isn't communicating with Victory very well. Polittle has been this route and he's saying there's more to the package than a trunk and another key. You need to contact your dealer and have him double check things and make sure he's asking Victory the right questions.

My guess is there are two ways you can order the trunk for the street. One is as a part which would come with a key that is different from yours and the other way as an accessory to upgrade the street to a tour that comes with a whole new set of keys for everything. You dealer probably cheeped out and bought the part option instead of the accessory option not understanding the differance.

Did you ASK for it to be keyed to match your ignition, or just expect it to happen? Consider that you bought the bike and bought the trunk separately, even though it was a part of the same purchase. How was Polaris supposed to know you wanted it keyed the same (I can't believe I am actually sticking up for Polaris!)? For that matter, how was the dealer supposed to know?

Keying the trunk to match the ignition should not be a big deal, but in fairness, you probably should have specifically asked for it to be done (I specifically asked when I added a tour pack to my Harley). Neither your dealer nor Polaris are mind readers, and while I will agree that it just makes sense, and your dealer should have at least asked (or let you know the keys wouldn't match), its not quite the same as having your paint "keyed".

I am not excusing the dealer here, and personally think he should make it right, especially since he knew your intent was to have a Tour (not to mention the kind of money we spend to purchase a bike like the Vision). The dealer didn't think of it, and neither did you. It was just an oversight, and one that I have to believe can be easily remedied.

My dealer took my trunk lockset to a locksmith and matched it to my ignition. I didn`t have to ask, and they did not charge.

We all need more dealers like that.
