Posts: 38 San Diego, California | Anyone taken their silver panels off and blacked out their bike? I have a black premium that I am thinking about painting black, same as the bike color. Anyone have a cost estimate and how long to pull off all the panels? |

You will need a service manual to do the job right. Paint prices are all over the place. You should certainly be able to get your panels painted for $400 or less... |

Posts: 72 Eyota, MN | I took mine off and painted them, still looks great and holding up very well. I've got about 7000 miles on mine since I painted them. Who ever does them for you make sure they sand them good, prime with an acid etch primer then a high build primer before they paint them. It gives some cushion behind the paint in case a rock hits it, less likly to chip. |

Posts: 1324 So Cal | I blacked out the panel below the windshield. Cycle Dragon has anodized panels which got me thinking about checking out local anodizers to see if they can do different colors. Thats as far as I got. Cant decide on what color. |

Posts: 141 Cumming, GA | I painted all my sliver except the passenger handles. Here is a picture of the instrument panel which I painted with a spray can of flat black. Notice the panel around the instruments is also blacked out.
It sure helps with the glare.
I will take a picture of the bike so you can see the entire thing blacked out.
As for pricing, I had the front silver, the silver under the tank and the silver under the seat power coated for $235. The rest was from a spray can.

Posts: 1290 Ruskin, Fl | Mine is all black. Photos in the gallery. The paint was $100 from the dealer. The paint guy charged me $300 for labor. He supplied the primer, clearcoat, ect. It took me 6 hours to take everything off. That was before I got my hands on the manual, but it wouldn't have made much differance time wise because it took me just as long to reassembly. I got the parts back from the painter in 3 days. Hope this helps. |

Posts: 320 Savannah, GA -Year round riding!! Yay! | I painted the tank panel on mine with semigloss spray paint, too (the glare was killing me). I didn't prep it enough and it's chipped in a few spots, and scratche where the key ring spins around on it. (I had to grin that I was spray painting a body piece on a brand new $20,000 bike with a $7 can of spray paint from Walmart...) I plan on getting all of those pieces powder coated, too. My question, how well does the front panel hold up now. It's just about impossible to get the love bug splatters off of it. I'm hoping powder coating helps.

Posts: 1290 Ruskin, Fl | The guy that painted mine used "self etching" primer first. I had one small spot that chipped on me. I used universal black from duplicolor and you really have to look hard to see it. I too starting getting a mar from my keyring blowing around. Now the key is is rides solo. |

Posts: 8144 New Bohemia, VA | Me three. I painted my console with a outdoor type texture paint, but I didn't let it dry enough and it got scratched. It seems it will harden enough to make it worth while to take it off and fix it up some. There's always the one from Victory now to replace if I want. |

I saw it somewhere on the forum that the standard console is black for the Ness Vision, and you can order that as a replacement that will fit any Vision. Don't know more than that but thought if mine looked too bad then I would go with that. I'm going to do the $4.00 paint job again tomorrow to fix the flaws and if turns out bad again, it's either powder coat or the replacement piece, but I ain't going back as it is "Hi-yo Silver, Away!" |

I use spray can first, to test the look. If I dont like it it can be stripped off to try something else.
Once I have the look down, I can decide on powdercoat or anodize. |

Posts: 1290 Ruskin, Fl | I used the same paint as the rest of the bike. Nice and shiny and I have no glare issue at all. Only draw back was a keychain will muck it up a little faster.

Whoa! Midnight cherry powder coat? That would be AMAZING! The midnight cherry paint is a very complex mix. It is not just filled with tons of metal flake, but also has some pearl in it as well. If your guy can match that paint, he is a genius! I personally don't think it can be done, but if it can, I will be second in line!!!
