Posts: 311 Atlanta Area | First of all, let me start by saying that I am a VERY aggressive rider. I'm no squid, but I put my scooters to the test and I know where my rev limiter is!
The first time it happened, Tigger and I were leaving the Harley dealer we always meet at before we ride. Wanting to show my azz a bit as we were leaving, I gave the motor a good rev and popped the clutch pretty hard. As I shifted into second, I felt the front wheel land back on the ground with a thud. I knew it happened, but had no witnesses, except for all the sheep standing outside the dealership. Fast forward a few weeks to Panama City's Thunder Beach (highly recommended, BTW, great rally). My brother-in-law and I were pulling out of an event parking lot, when I took off quickly to chase down one of our friends who had taken off in front of us. I felt the same "thud" again as the front wheel landed back on the pavement between shifts. My brother-in-law confirmed about a 6 inch wheelie until I shifted in to second. I was at my dealer today for the recall and mentioned that I must have the only Vision that pops wheelies at will, they told me that they will all do it and that they have done it many times on their demo bike.
After coming off Harleys for my last three bikes, I just find it really cool having that much power on tap with just a S1L1 kit (which I have been told doesn't add any power). My big bore Ultra Classic could still barely get out of it's own way, even after all the motor work and tuning. With the Vision, just rev the motor and drop the clutch! Kinda cool |

OK! 3 things:
1. WAY COOL!
2. Be careful when dropping a clutch...you may know this already and if you are like me, you already do. I have seen people break shit doing this and I WAS one of them on an old freak of a suzuki crotch rocket. Ok, not the same bike nor is it in the same class...I KNOW!
3. Mine will do this if I give it a good whack on the tail and say "Yeehaw", give it a good rev and bam...woooooooohooooooo!! At 5280 feet above sea level...impressive! I freaked the shit out of all the HD riders next to me who thought I lost control of the bike. YEAH...RIGHT! And THEN...they were pissed that I could anytime I wanted and THEY could NOT! BWAAHAAHAA! It was GREAT!
Oh...and NO...I don't do it a lot as I want this baby to be around for a long time to come! |

| Oh yes, not very hard to do either. I have always ridden hard, I used to ride long wheelies on my 2004 Kawasaki Vulcan 2000. I went on a group ride in Las Vegas, Nevada last October and we all rode Harley's. I rode an Electra Glide and I was able to get a couple of small wheelies on it, but it took more effort. I have only done a couple of small ones on my new Vision, but i have not really had a chance to do much more yet. Put a willing passanger on back and you can really get some good wheelies. The only time it pisses off my wife is when I don't warn her first. |

I thought I was just feeling things going into second on a high rev. You proved that my pysch. has been wrong all along. She said it was PTSD while on vicadan and valium. Beers for everyone! |

Posts: 1324 So Cal | I'm gonna leave that stuff to the younger guys. Not only does it take longer to get up if something goes wrong, but the cost and down time to repair if something breaks. Can you do a burnout with the Visions linked brake system? I havent even tried. Im getting older, and wiser? |

Posts: 849 , FL United States | I can say from personal experience that if you "romp down on it" hard enough in 1st,run it all the way to the rev limiter & power shift into 2nd, my Vis WILL pick the front tire up. Maybe not 6", but it will be off the ground momentarily :-)
BTW Seems it only happens when I'm riding 2up w/ Laura

Posts: 1290 Ruskin, Fl | I had the same thing on time. Kinda cought me off guard. Took off from a light. Shift into second when I hit the rev limiter w/o getting off the throttle. BTW, new law going int effect in Florida. Getting caught doing a wheelie is $1000 fine 1st offense. I don't think just seeing a little light under the tire will get you one of those. |

Posts: 311 Atlanta Area | Let's get something straight... I was never "trying" to pop wheelies on my Vision. It just happens sometimes when I take off hard.
I didn't mean to rile up M.A.V.W. (Mothers Against Vision Wheelies)! LOL! |

Posts: 2118 Pitt Meadows, BC Canada | Wheelies.... you folks remind me of the days of the old 'push-button' Automatic Transmissions. Guys would rev the crap out of those old engines then punch the "L"ow button to get a big patch of burnt rubber. Only problem was - these people were soon crying because their tranny's were shot.
I am thinking that my Vision wouldn't like what you are doing for long - before it needs expensive repair. Treat 'em with respect, and use skill and brains - not brawn to get them moving quickly.
Sincerely - Don (M.A.V.W. Associate) |

| The first test ride on the Vision was a wheelie test and yes she does it pretty easy. Stoppies are out though she won't do them no matter how hard you TRY. For the record I DO try to do this on every bike I plan to purchase, just to get some idea of what it can do.
Oh and my 99 Road Glide would do BOTH (wheelie and stoppie) in stock form. The 07 would wheelie but I never tried a stoppie as the brakes ere a bit harsh to begin with. Sorry no pictures currently available but if I get out screwing around this weekend perhaps I can get one or two. Now burnouts are just stupid, lol...... |
