| Gday,
I have a 2012 Vision with about 20000 miles on it and I am wanting to change the fork oil as per schedule, the Seals are oil tight with no issues.
After doing some research on this and other sites I am going to use Silkolene Pro RSF 10W in place of the Vic product as it is supposed to hold up better.
I have a couple of questions for those in the know..
As the job has the Vision Forks apart, should I have the seals changed as a matter of caution ?
Is 10 weight Fork Oil correct for a Vision ?
Thanks

I'm going through the same issue now, though have a slightly leaking seal on my left fork. When I get the "Seal Mate" tool and use it; to see if that stops the slight wetness on the shock tube; I'm just going to replace the oil; not the seals.

Posts: 251 Mechanicsville, VA United States | I've rode Visions with all three weights oil 5W, 7.5W and 10W and here's my take on the difference:
5W comes in the bikes new, it's ok but mushy.
7.5W the bike handles a lot better and you can feel the road without any harshness ...it's the winner for me!(Prefect)
10W is very harsh and rides very stiff, didn't like the ride or handling at all.
IMHO too! |

| Thanks for the info.
I have a bottle of the Victory Fork Oil and nowhere on the labeling dose it tell you what weight it is.
While researching on the forums and also asking my Vic Mechanic the answer seemed to be that the stock Oil was 10W although the mechanic did not seem 100% sure.
Can any one reconfirm what the standard weight fork oil is for a 2012 Vision (I think the fork diameter changed at some stage, it may make a difference to the oil weight) |

| I looked on BelRay and PJ oil for when fork oil should be changed. There was nothing. So maybe it lasts for ever LOL |

Well, maybe not "forever", but a long time. At least until the seals start leaking and it gets lost.
How often do we change the oil in the shocks or struts on our cars?
