Posts: 804 Perry Hall, MD | Consumer Reports just came out with their "Road Report" with the results of a survey looking at reliability and how happy owners are with their motorcycles. The story headlines Victory as having the happiest owners with 80% answering that they would buy it again. HD comes in second at 72%. Japanese bikes report the fewest failures at 11 to 15% with Victory being pretty close with 17%, and then a significant jump to 26% for HD. I was surprised to see BMW and Can Am showing up with 40 and 42 % reported failures. Man, how do you depend on either for long distance touring?
BE HAPPY!

I'm sure this will help non Vic owners look at Vics, and reinforce what we Vic owners already know. |

I am obviously speculating, but the BMW guys I know ride the doors off their bikes no pun intended in addition to BMW being the most popular among the IBA crowd. For a few years there were some issues with the shaft drive recently, but I think BMW took care of it. Again, I am not sure who they polled and where they got their data, but BMW makes solid bikes. I would be all over the BMW GTL if I could afford it. Vlad. |

Be careful before you drink the BMW Kool-Aid. Look up the water pump concerns with the BMW Six.
BMW's motorcycle reputation of being the most reliable originated with the boxer 247 motor (circa 1970's). In those days, their motor was the best.
Those days are gone. Modern technology has evolved with other manufacturers.
I've been riding Beemers most of my life, but now I ride Victorys. I'm much happier with my Vision than I was with any of my BMW's.
