Hey guys,

Has anyone mounted lower wind deflectors on thier vision? I purchases some followed all the directions on how to mount the deflector cleaned the area with alcohol and the surface. Used the template to align it properly and applied the 3m double sided tape.

Once i started to mount it the top half started to come off and will not align so the bottom half of the bracket can align properly so now I have ruined applying it.

I assume i can get more 3m tape but even if i do ill still have the allignment problem of applying it. I almost thought to let the top dry for 24 hour then apply the bottom but im sure others have done this and not had this problem . Its almost like the body is so curved you cant get it alligned properly. help!!!! please !

P.S. where can i get better strong 3 tape? i really dont want to wait for victory to send me some more and wait 4 weeks for delivery

hmmm is this the new full lower deflectors. I thought they mounted with bolts through the side fairing. We must be talking about two different kinds of lowers??? I just seen a new pair at my local dealer and seen they were bolt mounted. How about some pics? sorry i have not been more of a help.

You need to make sure that the 3M tape that you are using is the VHB (very high bond). If not, they will not hold. The latest deflectors should have come with it.

As far as the mounting, I did mine with a couple of wooden jigs that I made. Basically I put a piece of 1/2" plywood on the front tip-over as a guide and placed the deflector mounts about 1/2" from the front of the faring panel.

here are a couple f pics.

You should be able to get the 3M VHB tape at Wall-Mart; at least you can in Texas. Most of the ACE Hardware stores carry it also.

I put mine on using the vinyl template Victory sends with the lower deflectors and this worked well. I followed the instructions to the tee and all went well. It does take a while to get the vinyl templates in the right place and that is the hardest part.

I would suggest ordering the original double stick pads. The part numbers are listed on the installation instructions in case they need to be removed and reinstalled. Once you have the new pads clean the surface of the deflectors as well as the panel on the motorcycle with the alcohol pads. Once cleaned let them dry thoroughly before applying the double stick pads. After applying to the deflectory you then apply them to the bike with 25 - 40 pounds of pressure for about 15 to 20 seconds. Once applied do not adjust them or ride the bike for at least 24 hours so they can cure and set. Mine are still holding strong, they were installed about a month ago and have been on several high speed rides since then.

I'll throw in my $.02 worth here. I, too had problems getting the lower deflectors to line up properly. I used the template (per the instructions) but just in test fitting (no adhesive), I found that the upper and lower mount would not align and go flush against the fairing at the same time. Therefore, if I had the upper mount flush, then the lower one was at an odd angle to the fairing (not flush). I did not see *any* way that it would align properly, so I returned the kit to the dealer.

I was disappointed in this...I think that kit either had a bad production run or needs to be completely re-engineered.

I talked with Baker Air Wings and they are coming out with air wings for the Vision in the next few weeks. I had air wings on my old BMW K bike and on a Kawie Concours. I liked them and they worked great. I hope they look good, hate to spoil the looks of this beautiful bike.

I had the same problem. The mounts where backwards. If you look on the back of the mounts it will have a letter for top and bottom. I unscrewed the p-glass and moved the mount and it worked good. I got the 3m VHB tape at Wal-Mart.
