| My Vision has been parked most of the summer. I just can't stand the heat with all my gear on. I have been riding everyday for the past two weeks and with the weather getting cooler I will start taking small day trips with the wife. As much as I love my state it's just too brutal in the summer. I now know why old people die in the heat down here. I was born and raised in Texas , but just can't deal with the summer heat. I don't think it's something you can get use to. |

Posts: 412 Fargo, ND | Yeah...I hear ya! Fargo has been down into the 30(s) occasionally at night now. The days have been in the 60(s). However, we are on the way down and our riding season is just about over. Our summers are nice, however January and February can be -20 or even occasionally -30. I'm all for Global Warming!

WHINE, WHINE, WHINE....
Try riding in January when it's 12 degrees and snowing. You'll learn to love the heat. |

Posts: 320 Savannah, GA -Year round riding!! Yay! | Amen to that! Hubby & I rented a Gold Wing for a day a few years ago when we were in Las Vegas for a week in July. Rode to Hoover Dam, Red Rock Canyon, etc. It was 103 when we left the hotel at 8:30 am. When we got back to the hotel, during rush hour, the posted temp was 113, then you added the rush hour temp. I was on the verge of heat stroke.... We were debating at the time moving to the Alpine, TX area, but that sold us against it. I would hate to have to park my bike from July-Sept. Here (coastal Georgia), we generally have daytime highs of mid-40's-ish over the winter, the rare cold snap where we will get overnight low's in the 20's or so. High's in the summer occasionally get over 100, but low's at night are ususally around 75-80 then. The one downfall? No clear time to do those major overhauls that those in the North do over the Winter! I have to figure out the least offensive time to work on my bike!! (Ahhh, it sux to be me....)

Posts: 55 Las Vegas, NV | I have to agree with the person that posted here. I live in Las Vegas. We're finally having our first week that won't break 100 degrees. I've been riding like crazy. Happily, I'll get to ride for the next 9 months without having to worry about heat stroke. |

Posts: 2118 Pitt Meadows, BC Canada | Rounded a corner last January on Marine Drive along the ocean in West Vancouver - right into a blizzard. VERY unusual for us, but I set a new "Canadian National record for a U-Turn on a Motorcycle". Was back home in minutes. But really - we are fortunate - even with the rain - I never went more than 10 days last year without at least one dry outing - so I keep the bike insured and ready to go year round. It's also better for the machine to be run rather than just started-up, or worse - just sitting.
Sounds like Texan's need an 'Air Conditioned Suit' for summer riding. Me - I just love my 'Heated Seat', 'Heated Grips' and 'Heated Vest', and 'Hot Co-Pilot'.
