Anyone remove the windshield and think "why didn't they just glue the part in"? When I removed the bolt I found I had to keep my hand on the back side of the shield where the square nut resides. What a joke! I am thinking of gluing them in place. Any reason I should NOT do this?

I have thought of getting the "shorty" windshield so I can just change them out when I want.

EJ, yes it is a pain, I switch between the stock and tall windshield and have lost too of the little rubber grommets as well.

I switch regularly between the blade and stock (for inclement weather). After a couple of times, you get that funky hand postion down pat.... My  reason not to glue it....

Our resident tech David may override me on this but I see no problem w/ gluing down the square rubber grommets as long as you don't get any glue in the thread area. That way, when you want to change 'shields, you don't have to worry about dropping one of them.

Quick question.......

Are the bolts that hold the shield black or silver?

Mine are silver. I've looked at it and wondered why they don't use black...blends in better. But then I got to thinking that perhaps the person who installed the shield at the dealer may have grabbed some silver bolts out of the parts bin.

The "bolts" are silver so the blend in with the outer fairing. The inner "nut" (if you would call it that) is black so it blends in with the plastic part that the windshield mounts too.

I would love to hear the response. I am tempted to glue them tonight when I pull the blade off and put the stock back on. Its beginning to get cold here and at night the bigger deflector is getting to be a MUST.
