Posts: 266 Stockton, Ca. | Racershawn, without any solicitation of any services intended I am a Field Inventory Analyst for a large Wireless Cell Phone carrier. I travel from Ca. central coast to Vancouver Washington and Hawaii. I visit our Retail stores and assist them with their inventrory handling practices to minimize loss. I have been in this industry since the onset in 1984 starting as a Retail Manager. It didn't take long for burnout to set in and I got out of Retail but stayed with the company. The best part of the job is riding my Vision to many of my store visits. |

Posts: 725 Reno County, KS | I'm the Electronics Technician for a offshore vessel (large 4,400 metric ton capacity crane ship with/undersea pipelaying/remote operating vehicles). Working back-to-back with another E.T. and several Electricians; I setup, maintain, repair, retrofit, source, and improvise all onboard electronics for 28 days. I usually handle the operator training for the systems as needed. The down side is that I work 28 days playing around dangerous voltages in hot, hydraulic muck with little sleep but... The BIG upside is that it allows me 28 days off (usually)and I can't complain about the salary. I spend a lot of off-time in classrooms and I try to spend the miles to and from on my bike. I've had most of this month off and I've spent it on Route 66, traversing from Chicago to California's West Coast, down the Pacific Coast to Santa Monica and back East through Historic 66. Tomorrow marks 2 weeks straight and 4,800 mi. on the road this trip. I'll probably end up riding over 6000 mi. this trip on my 08 Street Primo, a Kuryakyn Grand Tour bag riding behind and my backpack strapped to the passenger backrest on the luggage rack. This is the time that having that trunk would be nice but not necessary. This trip has been amazing! So far, I've been pulled over by the Springfield, IL. Firemarshall in front of Abraham Lincoln's Library so they could "see my bike" LOL! I met the guy running "Ack Attack" (Mike Ackattak; I think is his name) on the Bonneville Straights. He just set the motorcycle land speed record at 360.891 MPH! I missed the run because I was having my belt re-tensioned but ran into him afterwards. I ran into him right outside Reno, NV at a gas station (with his bike in tow), got some photos and his autograph. His wife gave me one of the actual crew shirts! I must have demonstrated the tipovers over a dozen times to meeting Goldwing/Harley tourer groups. Anyway, I digressed. That's my job and my experience so far on this bike. Getting there is over half the fun!

I bought my SSG Premium Tour Vision as a means to unwind & relax when back home on vacation, & to go visit friends arouind the country. My previous bike was a Honda Pacific Coast. Great bike for around town, but was not too comforatable to me on long rides.
I have to say that I am one of the lucky ones whose only problems with my Vision is a bad battery & a small gap on my left saddlebag. This bike is fantastic. I am always looking forward to getting back to the States & riding.

Posts: 2027 Brighton, TN | Let me start by saying, I am a Hillbilly Biker Computer Nerd. I work for a large Government agency that everybody loves to pay. I work on networks, computers, servers, programs, etc. Just about anything computer related I have touched and played around with at least once. I started out as a farm hand in East Texas, became a Fire Controlman for the United States Navy in 1988, job that played with weapons (hmm good!) Worked on CIWS (Sea - Whiz) a weapon that had six barrels like an old Gatlin gun, shot 3000 rounds per minute or 50 rounds per second, what a gun! Got out, and went to work for the US Navy as a Civilian in a Hospital environment as a Computer Database Admin. Left that one for a job with Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS) now DHS. Left that one for the one I'm currently at IRS, do I need to spell it. No, I can't help you! So there you go.

Posts: 2027 Brighton, TN | Okay, so far some of you SUCK, I been needing a couple of things lately and then unbeknownst to me, there are people on here who could have helped me.
Hippo - let me just start with you. Just looked at your site with your smiling picture on it. I can only assume you just stepped off of your Vision, one happy feller, or maybe getting off that V92C with matching side car, with dog and grandkids. Man that looks like fun. Go ahead and update your site, it shows you getting a Vision soon. I thought you already had one. Was looking at the IPOD Touch 32G for my Vision, but the $500 price tag seemed a little steep. Bought the Creative 32Gig instead for $300. Let me go look at your site and see what the price is. Oh there it is fro $399 or $379 or $369, now I'm confused. Anyway could of used one for my Vision so I could be integrated with my electronics. May have to give that one away and buy another one from HIPPO.

okthenbye- mother just dropped her cell phone in some water (hmmm), now it don't work and now need a new cell phone for mother.
racershawn - always needing something to make my Vision look better, but it has to be on the down low and cheap, otherwise approval of appropriation of funds is hard to come by. Reason, being, Graphics don't make it run any faster or better. I got ideas (just a few that only appeal to me)!
CoolHandLuke - what more to be said, RETIRED. I want that title but want to be a little younger than I am now with that title. Can we trade?
Where is TRIXIE she also has a shop?
I appreciate the effort for not hocking your wares on a constant basis on here. But if you were to at least put out occassionally or under the commercial ads, I'm sure there are those who would be willing to give business in that direction. Especially for good service. |

I still have to watch the Cat Herders commercial every now & then. I love it.
I process payrolls. I was in the right place at the right time. I was able to buy in over time
to 49%. I have one helper, and we do about 150 clients with anywhere from 1 employee to
200 employees. We only had 35 clients when I started. This is my first white collar job.
I was a back of the house F&B slave for about 14 years. It wrecked my body, and I didn't
profit financially. Thank God (of your choice) for my current blessings. (o:

In other words, I get your folks to work smarter, reduce your waste, make you more money, and give you more leisure time in which to spend it.

I've done other things thru my years. Had a private security company that focused on supplemental security when local bars would bring in bands that would fill the house, made to much cash and got into a bit of trouble with the IRS. I've also dabbled in retail sales and did a stint at car sales.
Due to a pending lawsuit that I'm involved in things are going to be very very $$good$$ in my future. So lately I've been planning my very early retirement. |

Dallas_gal that's awesome, I'm still scratching my head, never seen or heard of me no woman shop teacher.
And as Songfan has noted, me and my Vision, well, we just love us some sheetrock. Driving over it and laying tire tracks to it are the best. Watch out for the nails they tend to puncture the tire.

The long version is that I have one of the coolest guy-jobs around. I get to work on bigger-than-life Tonka toys. I maintain and repair large construction equipment like dump trucks, pay loaders, bulldozers, and cranes. I keep them running in tip-top shape, despite the best efforts of their operators. I get to climb all over them, tear them apart and put them back together again. They, of course, I have to go dig in the dirt with them to make sure they work correctly. |

Hey, polittle, don't be in such a hurry to go lay down your hard-earned cash for a new cell phone just yet. Take it all apart and put the pieces in a bowl of uncooked rice for a day or so. Then put it all back together again. The rice should absorb the moisture and make it good as new. |

I figured sunshine would take care of the problem. Big Tonka toys, love that, only one problem, to fix them they take big heavy parts. |

Due to Victory releasing the Vision I recently left all of that and went to doing my hobby full time. I currently am a BRP (Bombardier Recreational Powersports) and Polaris Technician and some American Iron Horse Choppers on the side. Major life and career change at 44.
It is great to have a professional in the Polaris field participate on this board. I have benefited

Later worked for my family in the construction business. Worked at a school as a campus maintenance person fixing all of the things people broke. After this I worked as a contractor near Corpus Christi, TX.
In 1986 I got a ham radio license and started working with computers. In 1993 I changed jobs and started getting paid for computer work. For 5 years I worked at computer resellers installing and fixing networks.
For the last ten years I work as a System Administrator at Broadway National Bank in San Antonio, TX. The bank has 36 locations. Unlike the banks in trouble today mine has never done a sub-prime loan.

Posts: 320 Savannah, GA -Year round riding!! Yay! | Hot? Noooooooooo! He was in his late 50's at the time, and pulled his pants up WAAAY over his belly.... But, being only one of 3 girls in the class with 15 boys, (and one of the girls had asthma and couldn't take the wood dust, so she went to the library every class, and the other girl was about 4'8", 350 lbs. and had never heard of deodorant), shop class was fun, way more fun than Pre-Algebra (It only took me 3 years to get through Algebra. I'm not a mathmatical person...). The teacher looked out for me, because the boys liked picking on me and trying to make me do things that I didn't know better than to do (like getting cornered in the lumber room). Yep, back to the being surrounded by guys, only intereested in that thing between my legs. Definitely better having them swarming me for the Vision than to help me lift lumber (their lumber especially). But 22 was way better than 12, or 40 something. I think I'm going to go for a ride on my Vision to try to forget the ugly stuff....

I am guessing there are a bunch of Vision owners who don't know this page exists (I know I had to tell my Victory dealer about it).
But this has been a great thread - wonderful stories and even some truth I suspect. Definitely not a bunch of bone-heads here.....

I think that we should make a point of instructing our Dealer's sales staff to make sure EVERY Vision buyer is aware of the site.
For example - because of this site, I knew of the Recall for the battery post before my Victory service manager knew. He as much said 'bullshit' until I sat him down at a computer and showed it to him. Now the dealership follows these threads and are more aware.
Let's hear from more of the missing 88% of members - and recruit more of the missing non-members. |

Posts: 332 Dale, Indiana | I grew up on a grain and livestock farm right here where I now live. Family still sends about a ¼ million turkeys to market every year. (My bike money came for that)
When I was growing up trucking always looked much easier then farming full time. Therefore I have been trucking most of my 30 years since High School.
I bore easy so I have played radio announcer and board operator from time to time over the years. Plus, have done all night and day marathons on air to help raise money on listener supported radio stations. Even was once the manager of a Christian radio station for a very short time.
I have also played P/T cop for a local town. Which means I got to look cool while directing ball game traffic, and ride alone and catch drunks late nights. (But hey they let me turn on the whooper) .
I also played advertizing salesman for 6 months. Being a salesman is harder then I thought.
I also have rebuilt a few wrecked cool cars and tried to sell them at a profit (doesn't always work… but least I came out ahead more then I come out behind.)
Own two storage buildings. (No work, just got to collect the money … which is worse then pulling teeth)
In my trucking career, I worked half of it for a large office furniture company. I went to a lot of furniture shows with the booth and furniture. Once that was unloaded and setup I would then cleaned up truck and tried to park it near the show to advertize.
I also built a rolling showroom on wheels. I looked damn good I think and people loved the idea of bring the showroom to their office doorstep.
The furniture gig was great. I met and got to talk to and learn from people who were anything from desk-jockeys, to buyers, to the CEO of fortune 500 companies.
Trucking and shiny trucks have always been in my blood. I have had my trucks in the centerfold of trucking magazines, my picture (as bad as it is) pictured next to an article about trucking, or furniture hauling.
Right now I just try to truck and look good. I am burned out with all the media junk and have worked hard to make people not print my opinions in magazines.
As I said I am just burned out and people expect much from those who get their fat heads in print.
Right now
I JUST WANT'A RIDE!
And try to spend more time with my family.
To you radio guys.
I have a daughter who has her dad's radio bug. Plus, she's great on all aspects of TV.
I am bragging now.
She's a good looking blond who refuses to let her good looks and hair decide what she will be.
Right now during her last year at IU.
She's an afternoon music director. Does some live radio. Does radio and TV marketing. Plus, she now is directing 6 PSA's for a local PBS TV station.
She's going places!
Not using her looks and doing all aspects of Radio and TV is making her a well-rounded and valuable person.
Hey I said I was going to brag on her didn't I?
My wife?
Mother of an overgrown kid (me) and 3 boys and a girl (mine also).
She's has about 12 different jobs at a large rock and sand company. She's good at everything she does so they just keep piling on different types of jobs.
Least the pay and benefits are great.
She too loves to ride!
Ok so I talk too much!
Next time don't ask questions.

Right here is the "rocket scientist" that you asked about.........
After spending 4 years in the Air Force after high school, I landed a job at a place called Goldstone Deep Space Communications Complex for NASA's Deep Space Network (DSN), about 40 miles outside of Barstow, CA. I tracked interplanetary spacecraft for those first few years, helped launch (and save) one of the Voyager spacecraft, which is now at the fringes of our solar system. I've seen near real time close up pictures of Mars, Jupiter, Saturn Uranus, and Venus, resulting from information returned from those spacecraft that I helped receive and forward to the scientists. I became a crew chief at Goldstone at the tender young age of 23, then moved on to teach all the newly hired operators how to run all the computers and antennas there. Life at Goldstone was a blast!
I was selected as the chief operations representative to a major ground systems design upgrade for the 3 Deep Space Complexes (Goldstone, Madrid Spain, and Canberra Australia), and had reps from each of those complexes working with me to make the operations side more streamlined. This took me to the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) in Pasadena, CA often, and after 3 years of coaxing, they convinced me to move to La-La Land.
Thought I would only last a couple of years in the big city, but ended up there for 11 years. During that time I was the Deep Space Network (DSN) ops rep for numerous missions, and moved on to the spacecraft side for the Magellan mission to Venus in 1988. Worked on that from early concept and design, helped launch it, fly it to Venus, was there for the entire prime science mission. I even was involved in troubleshooting a Magellan hardware problem down to the specific capacitor from a distance of ~75 million miles away - Earth to Venus distance at that time.
After Magellan, I planned DSN antenna usage for the next 10 years, identifying where antenna schedules were so full that it would impact spacecraft launches or primary science missions. That resulted in several new antennas being built at the 3 DSN complexes.
In 1995, I had enough of the big city, and moved to Evergreen, CO. Had hoped to be done with the space biz, but bills, food, family took priority. Now I work in the Earth-orbiting satellite realm, for a mission called EMOS, that has 3 satellites studying the land, sea, and atmosphere. I'm a systems engineer for the ground data processing facility, located in Greenbelt, MD at Goddard Space Flight Center. I'm still in CO though, working with a group of software, hardware, network, and test engineers to continuously improve the systems used at Goddard to communicate with the 3 satellites. I travel frequently between Denver and Baltimore.
When I'm in CO, I live out of the Denver area, west of town, up in the wooded foothills around 7900' elevation. I love the peace and quiet, and it puts me closer to some of the greatest motorcycle riding roads in the whole country!
My Vision now has over 12K miles on it (since late March 08), and am looking forward to next summer already, to re-experience some of my favorite Colorado roads I've ridden in the past 13 years here, and to explore for new gems. Hope some of you can make it to the Colorado Rockies in the coming years. I'd love to share some of my favorite roads with other Vision Riders!! |

Posts: 16 Rockaway, NJ | Hey Guys... I work Full Time as a Nuclear Medicine Field Engineer. Yes that is correct, I touch radioactive materials from time to time. It keeps me on my toes. I also work in the Financial Services industry helping people get OUT of debt and make extra money. I do not think I can help anyone in the nuclear field but the Financial Service department is always open to help people. I just retired from working Full Time as a Paramedic in the field for 20+ years.
2009 Victory Vision #78 Anniversary - No added options yet since I got a few as a standard. Pipes will be one of my first items.

Posts: 117 South of Houston Tx | I spent 20 years as a GM technician, after that 3 running my own shop then 3 doing warranty claims but recently with the general economic conditions and the impact of Ike on the Gulf Coast economy, I rode my vision up to Oklahoma and hired on as a diesel mechanic in the oil field. I'm back to getting grease under my nails, just working on a little bit bigger stuff. |

Posts: 15 Albertville Mn | I am a certified crane operator and spent most of the prime Minnesota riding season working on the 35W bridge that fell down. I still managed to put on 2800 miles while working on it seven days a week/ twelve hours a day (who needs sleep). After I was done on the bridge I took some time off and went to Sturgis and the American Victory rally and power tour!!!! |

Posts: 102 Madison, AL | Hmmm, what do I do for a living? As little as possible while managing to still get paid and not fired. As a Kid did odd jobs to get money for my bike or car, or whatever. Then I was in the U.S. Army for 21 years and started out as a Nuclear Weapons Specialist then moved to Aviation Operations. Retired in 2005 and have been working in Aerospace since. Currently work with the U.S. Army improving their Aviation maintenance and logistic systems. I hope to transfer to Unmanned Aerial Systems Later next year. BS in Technology Management, MBA, and currently working on a PhD, and I still can't write worth a flip. Oh well, looks like it is time to take a quick ride. |

Posts: 74 Puyallup, Washington | Wow!! I've been away from the Forum for awhile. A lot has happened. Anyway, I joined the U.S. Army in the 70's as an Airborne Infantryman(Paratrooper). It took three and a half years for me to figure out I would rather stay in the aircraft so I went to flight school. I am now a retired Army Aviator flying helicopters commercially in the Gulf of Mexico. |

Ticketed in Automotive, Heavy Duty & Millwright, with lots of hard knock schooling in welding & machining. The last few years have swung into air conditioning repairs for heavy equipment AC, summers usually run 14 - 20 Hr. days. Now that puts a kink in biking milage, was still able to put 14,000 km on the Vision & 6,000 km on the rest of the fleet. |

Posts: 388 Salisbury, NC | Well I guess it is my time to chime in. I am the Nationwide manager for Huggins Tire Sales out of High Point, NC. We sell Good Year racing tires for NASCAR, NHRA and IHRA. I have been mounting tires off and on since 1972. Quit in 1979 and worked as a bartender, radio installer and warehouse worker until 1986. Then back to the races. And have been doing that for the last 22 years. We only work in the southeast, but will go outside of that if you are willing to pay extra. I have been riding Victorys since 2001 when my father retired. I ride to work every chance I get. The Vision turned 25,893 miles this week and I'm leaving for Homestead, FL on Sunday. I guess this thread and others like it are why I keep coming back. Glad it was started. ET |

| I own a Pawnshop in Ontario, California. Five years ago someone pawned a Harley Heritage Softail and never came back for it. I started riding it around the parking lot one day and was hooked. A couple of years ago I rode out to Laughlin and while there, I saw a very long line of Harley riders waiting to see something. It was the Vision. I had to have one, it was love at first sight, I counted the days for a year for it to come out. I ride mine everyday. |

| Future Vision rider here, need to finish putting the kids thru college first. I work in the Customer Support division of a large aircraft manufacturer. Unless you're building the next major airline in the US, I may not be able to help professionally. However all riders, especially Vision Pilots are welcome in my garage. |
