The wife and I skipped out of work a bit early today as it was a GORGEOUS afternoon here in the Pacific NW, and we need to grab all the good days we can before monsoon season arrives.

So, we were going to pop by the store, pick up some milk for dinner, and take a short 1/2 hour ride around the back roads.

Before we knew it, it was 280 miles later, (and two mountain passes over the Cascades), and we still didn't have any milk.

Those Vic engineers HAVE to do something about this obvious defect.

I'm sorry, I just can't trust this bike anymore.

I hate the people who ask me what kind of gas mileage I get with the bike.
IDIOTS !!!
Anytime I go anywhere - I end up driving 3 or 4 times further than I would in a car. No damn savings at all.....

Yeah, I get the comments all the time about "You're saving gas riding that!" "I wish I had something that got that good gas mileage!" They look at me in dismay when I tell them I spend more now for gas because I go visit family more which is anywhere from 3 hours away to 5 hours. I don't know why I ever bought this thing!

Too funny! My wife laughs at me whenever somebody brings up the "saving gas" argument. We now plan our errands so we can do all of them on the bike and hit some good country roads along the way, mapsource is becoming a very good friend of mine.

Thank God for post threads like this. This is why I own a Vision. It gets a bit disheartening reading all those "What If and Wish i had that, and why didn't they do this to the bike" threads. Sometimes I wonder why they just didnt go ahead and buy a BMW or Goldwing. This is a Victory Vision and i love it. Classic styling with V-twin, sooooo very comfortable with the floorboards and seat height. Yet the bike stands out on its own merits. Like i tell everyone else, this is the first motorcycle that i have truly been excited about in the last 15 years.

I even left my old job and made a career change to being a wrench for Polaris because of this bike. To hell with gas mileage and everones problems, this is the first time i have been this happy since i was a teenager with no bills and just had to worry about putting gas in the car and picking up my date for the night.

I've even gone so far as setting up cones in my driveway just to check out the handling characteristics. If you get after it, it will go through them quite easily, but you got to get used to throwing around a very large bike, side to side.

Wife is also quite inspired to get her own bike. Problem is even the 6 - 10 year old bikes, people still think they command a premium. Don't even talk about HD. Lady had one listed 2003 Sportster for $5100 and wouldn't budge. I tried to explain to her that most people aren't buying them at that price. She just shrugged her shoulders. Not when you can pick one up 2008 for $6200 -$6800 brand new. Oh well, I keep looking.

She is vertically challenged and doesn't want a new one for fear of dropping it. She thinks she was wanting a 250cc bike and I keep dragging my feet on it. If I could swing getting a Vegas Low, that would be perfect (for me). But they aren't that old. So, I keep looking.

The Yamaha VStar 650 and 1100 are excellent bikes for starters and beyond. There should be tons of used ones on the market.

some beach, some where? (country song). Good for ya! Cigars all around!

Crawford, you would think, but a 2000 on Craig's list is still around 4000, 2000 less than new, for an eight year old bike. I just don't see it.

Another bad thing... I find the urge to stop in to dealerships and go shopping with the wife. She has had so much experience in this area that I find it is my turn. Well Now she has her eys on a 08 Kingpin with the white flames ( Someone find me a deal on one so I can pull the trigger with ease) Good points Poo and Crawford on available used bikes. I have always said it would be nice to have a secondary bike and I think the KingPin might do the trick. IRR I too agree about the more and better rides!
When My wife first saw the Vision her quote was "I'm never going to get on that thing" Now its like we just met and always want to go for a ride! Usually for 2 to 3 hours without hesitation.

Yes the prices on used bikes are highly inflated in recent years. I know at one time bikes that where to hard get rid of now go for $2000 or more. Supply and demand I guess. Maybe you'll have better luck getting a deal on a house.

See, now if the Vic marketing department were paying attention, that would be there new Vision motto right there. Sort of an updated version of "You meet the nicest people on a Honda". Maybe "You get more sex with the Vision."

As for a good starter bike, don't rule out the Suzuki Boulevard C50. It's a great bullet-proof ride and you can pick up used ones for a very reasonable price. My daughter, (about 5.5" and 105 pounds), started out on that bike with no problems at all. The only mod was lowering the bike about 1.5"s to make it more comfortable for her to flat-foot the bike at stops.

I want one, I want one!!!!!!! Oh, wait, I already do. Good slogan, though. Is this a Cialis or Viagra commercial, oh no it's the new Vision Drug for what ails you.

I'm not ruling out any bike. Just one cheap enough for her to learn on and reach comfortably. C50, sportster, vstar line, etc. Somebody bring the price down where it should be. Everybody owns a Barrett Jackson collectible. 1998 model, one of a kind, Vulcan, collectors item. Bull*(&^(*^! Maybe I just go and get the Vegas Low and if she wrecks it I just replace the parts with Chrome. Ta da problem solved. I've looked in the local paper, craig'slist online, ebay- inflation, cycletrader, etc and still nothing.
Guy around the corner had a 1999 Kawa Vulcan 750. Wife couldn't sit flat footed and get her legs away from the exhaust. I had to explain to her that would be hot. She didn't seem to concerned, I just told her I know better and no way. He wanted $1400, but it needed rebuild the front shocks, brakes, tires, a lot of rub and scrub, paint looked alright, instrument cluster loose, and the windshield was a rough cut made to fit. A lot of little problems I didn't want to deal with especially once she burned herself, that would have been the end of it.

I don't think I have seen any ladies respond to this one yet, so if you are speak up, I thought most of y'all was dudes not dudettes.

Plumley, and others, there is quite a bit of negative, but rest assured for those that love their bikes, no amount of negativity here could keep them from riding it off into the sunset. A bunch of us here wished they would have brought it out like that in the first year run. That would have been cool. Then again, a bunch of folks like to paint and customize.

leave it chickenpoco to hijack the post! WE ARE SUPPOSE TO BE TALKING ABOUT WHAT I HATE ABOUT MY VISION. Well let me tell, mine was running great until the dealer FLASHED me! Chickenpoco, have you been up here in my neck of the woods! I think you had something to do with this. Now my Vision no longer runs great, it runs FANTASTIC! I hate that! Soon I'll have all my warranty issues resolved and I won't have nothing to like about my Vision. What are these people thinking?

Dilithium crystal mines are few and far between.
When people ask about milage tell them about 40 light years to the crystal.

I also hate that my butt doesn't get sore, my hands don't go numb, and my back doesn't hurt.

I mean, how am I supposed to know when it's time to get off the bike?

Oh, it also is way to easy to go way to fast in corners.

I tell you, the negatives just keep piling up.

My eyeballs don't shake out of my head above 80mph anymore.  I rarely ride by myself around town because one of the kids or the wife always wants to go with me and be seen on it.  Gas stop conversations take forever.  Stage 1/Level 1 isn't controversial at all...everybody likes the sound.  I always have to be exactly where I say I'm going to be because everyone knows where I am or where I was.  Midnight Cherry Red...it gets really old not having to defend that color.

In 10 months and 15,000 miles not one single person has ever mentioned small saddlebag capacity, engine heat, a "dent", tire wear, radio quality, recalls, windshield distortion or any other issue mentioned here.  I have been asked about reverse but have never been asked about ABS, or a centerstand.

All people want to do is stand around, gawk at the bike and talk about how beautiful it is.  Then I feel obligated to turn the key, light it up, cycle the windshield up and down, start it up, feel the lack of vibration in the handlebars, listen to the exhaust, crank up the XM radio, mention the heated grips and seat, cycle through the LCD readouts, check out the huge rear tail-light, walk all the way back to the front to see the HID running light, finish off with the tipover points.

Spending time with a steady stream of perfect strangers really eats into my riding time.  It sucks being me.

Savannah, GA -Year round riding!! Yay!

What I hate about my Vision... now I go to the grocery store 3 or 4 time per week, instead of just once in my truck. I do a lot less housework, and my laundry is piling up (no end in sight with the winter months.... stupid heated seats and grips!)

More sex? No, hubby & I are always riding, but not on the same bike. But, now I have guys I don't know, chatting me up all the time, about the thing between my legs, just like when I was young. I feel 22 again, but with better credit!
