So I lean into a turn riding two up. First the floor boards scrap than the rear tipover hits the ground and the bike popped back up straight. I thought it odd. I have put a few scratched on the boards, but didn't think I was leaning that far. Jump on the highway and notice the instant economy (what I keep displayed most of the time) is 28 MPG. Than I realized something was very wrong. Pulled over and back tire was almost all the way down. Than I put it all together why I almost crashed. Limped two miles to the rest area. Damn tire was too hot to touch. While I was looking for my insurance card to call progressive's roadside assist a guy came over to admire the Vision. Not only did the guy come up with a 12 volt compressor (no air at rest area), he felt the air leaking and also pulled out a plug kit. I tried to give him the $20 I had and he adamantly refused. Nice to see people like that out there. Got the bike home safely. Hopefully I still have 3/32" tread left and get a new tire installed free through the tire insurance.

I carry a 12v air compressor on the bike and a bottle of "Slime" just in case. This will work for a nail puncture, but for a deep cut probably out of luck. Anyway the compressor is about the size of my hand and an 1 1/2" thick and fits nicely with the Slime and hoses into one of the bag lids behind the netting.

cw1115 - Yes, very good to see helpful folk, that don't just want your cash, even if you are offering it. Glad you got help and were able to keep going.

I have noticed the E3 very good at maintaining itself with either a flat or low tire. You get the idea something is wrong, but not disastrous. I have driven down to my shop on a totally flat, no air in the tire. It barely wiggles and the sidewalls are stiff enough to keep it up so that you aren't driving on the rim.

The tire shop I use told me that the Slime will damage the wheel from the inside out. If you have to use it, make sure it gets cleaned off real good as soon as possible.

I remember the old fix-a-flat was dangerous stuff for the mechanic. Used to come with a warning sticker to put on the valve stem. I forget what it did. Flew in your eyes or something when you broke the bead.

You can buy a cheap 12V compressor at Wallyworld, cut the giant plastic housing off and end up with a compressor that will fit your hand. Add some plugs and reamer/insertion tool...walla!

I have a 'plug gun' that I found on the web. It comes with a tool to 'route out' the hole and then you can patch it. It's enough to get you to the next stop.
