I was reading the latest edition of Victory Rider and read your suggestions on care of the vision. I have a 2008 vision tour deluxe and have noticed a problem with static electricity sucking dust to the plastic panels. While a California duster removes most of it I was wondering if you have any suggestions on eliminating or at least reducing the static. I have tried everything I can think of including pure carnauba wax and liquid silicon sprays. I have even contemplated installing a static strap to discharge the static to the ground. This although would be very ugly. Any suggestions? Other than that I love my Victory and will never go back to Harleys which I have owned several of since the early 70's.

Hi Dennis,

Thank You for writing, you do have a unique problem. We have experienced this with a couple of bikes. First I must tell you that any of the silicone based products you use will attract dust and dirt to the surfaces of your Vision. I would approach your problem in two steps. First you need to have a good quality polish or protectant on the surface. Our recommendation is our Pure Victory Liquid Spray Wax. This is the highest quality polymer based Carnauba enhanced product with the longest UV protectant money can buy. It will literally create a non-stick surface on your plastic panels. Then if you apply our Pure Victory Instant Detailer with it's negative static charge you will find it will actually allow the dust to fall away from your bikes surfaces. The Dealers who are using our Instant detailer to clean the bikes on their showroom floors have been able to pick up two to three additional; days between dusting and cleanings. The liquid spray wax is even used by the Victory truck drivers on their show trucks because as they say the dust just blows off the surface as they drive down the road. Please give this a try and let us know if it corrects or improves your problem. As always ride safe and ride clean.

Larry, I have a 2005 Kingpin that has some corrosion on the chrome fins on the engine, how do I remove the corrosion and protect it from happening again?

Hello Bob,

You have a problem we are very familiar with. I'm going to guess that you live in a Coastal area of the country or you are a winter rider of your King Pin. Being based in Daytona Beach and having detailed so many bikes from Florida, coastal Georgia and South Carolina. We have seen a lot of this. (however being a former Harley owner we know this to be more prevalent with the HD than the Victory's) When starting from new it is easy to prevent this condition from happening, it is as simple as treating your engine two to three times per year with Pure Victory Black and Silver Engine Enhancer. Simply spray it on, let it cure or dry for thirty to forty minutes, wipe the excess over spray from your chrome and you are protected from this environmental attack on your motorcycle. Now fixing your problem is a little more time consuming, we have or use a special tool we call a fin stick. It's actually a tool designed as a electrical contact cleaner, it is simply a pencil like tool that utilizes glass or fiberglass rods that we simply wipe across the fins and it removes the corrosion you are experiencing. You can also use small pieces of the green scotch brite pads or a very fine 1600 to 2000 grit sand paper to wipe this corrosion from the fin surface. Oh and did I mention PATIENCE and a little time.
