| Hi. I am thinking of upgrading the seat on my 2012 Vision Tour. I am 6' tall and my wife is short which makes it hard for her to see past me. But more importantly, we are looking for more comfort for longer rides. I have had a Corbin in the past, but that's not a good option for longer rider. I hear that Russell Day Long seats are nice. Anyone have opinions or pictures? |

| Have you tried your seat for long ride. Mine is great for a good 1000 with just gas stops. Had a Corbin solo on one of my h-ds and it was great for long rides.
Lot of guys like that Russ seat. Don't know where your at do a search for iron butt seats they can custom build you one |

Posts: 180 Georgia On My Mind.... United States | I had a leather Russell Day-Long on my BMW LT for many years. Absolutely loved it.
I followed the "front end" girl's instructions at Russell and took the necessary pictures and allowed them to build it to fit me.
Perfect.
FYI the Russell Day-Long has a wooden frame and a spring steel support piece. Kinda like an older automobile seat. |

Posts: 115 Katy, TX United States | I had a RDL seat on the 03 Honda ST1300 and it was great. I have not found the need to upgrade the Vision seat. I have ridden 500 miles in a day with just noremal stops. Plan to do a Saddlesore 1000 or Buttburner 1500 this spring with the stock seat. |

Just my two cents. The Vision seat is -thee- most comfortable stock seat I have ever had. That includes a Yamaha Venture, Honda Gold Wings, and H-D Ultra's. If you live in a colder climate, ask if you can get the heated seat feature. Let us know what you get.

| Thanks everyone. I have ridden this bike many times on rides 300+ miles. While its good for a stock seat, I still need something better. I think I will look into the RDL seat. Thanks again. |

Posts: 155 Victoria Tx, TX United States | I have a new Corbin... Just came back from Cali.. My butt just got numb but didn't hurt like the Florida ride w/stock seat. On that Russell seat I've heard you need long legs to reach the ground. BUT riders loves them... SO YOUR CHOICE. |

Posts: 115 Katy, TX United States | As an update. Idid the Saddlesore 1000 and Buttburner 1500 with the stock seat and had no problems. To get a little personal, I find wearing the Heat Out base layer shorts (http://www.cyclegear.com/HEAT-OUT-Base-Layer-Riding-Shorts) under my jeans make a long ride more comfortable. It also helps to cool the boys when it is hot out; however, I wear them for long rides even in the winter, such as it is in Houston, TX.

Glendale, AZ United States | I personally think the Russel Day-Long seat is rock solid and well worth the investment if you plan on holding on to your scooter for awhile in addition to doing serious IBA sort of touring. It is by far one of the ugliest seats on the market and looks like a "ol school" tractor seat, but it works and your butt will thank you. If you plan on going that route you may also need to get a taller windshield since the Russel is a lil taller then the stock seat. I would turn this into a trip and ride out to Lake Shata CA with the Mrs. If you make an appointment and let him know you are coming, they can get it done in one day.
As far as I'm concerned a sore butt makes things unbearable and spoils the enjoyment, especially if you are doing an IBA run and on a time crunch situation. AirHawk also makes a seat cushion that a lot of folks like if funds are limited. Vlad. |

Posts: 167 , OH | redo it yourself. You can remove the stock seat cover staples, add, and shape different density foam for your seat area, plastic wrap over it and pull the cover back on. Theres plenty of material to try it out to find what you like. That's what I did, then recovered it. I ended up adding a replacement seat heater (mine died), back massagers, butt massagers, heated backrest, and the bikes name in embroidery.
