| Hey grumpy,
I have an 0-12 and haven't done belt work yet. If this link works, here's a conversation about your question.
If the link doesn't work, just search "belt" and it'll come up.

| sold my 99 harley road glide with 139 thousand on original belt.
To be honest I think your do. Save the old one for a spare and remember if you use the old one make sure you put the belt on so you can read the name victory |

Glendale, AZ United States | I have noticed some belt noise, especially when the bike is cold at 30K miles on the odometer, but as long as the free play is to spec and belt appears to be in good shop then don't worry about it. |

Posts: 251 Mechanicsville, VA United States | If you're hearing noise from your belt there is a problem, the alignment is not right or the belt is too tight or the rear pulley has worn incorrectly probably due to the belt being too tight.
Jack the bike up in the rear just enough the spin the rear wheel and watch how it's running on the pulley and make adjustments to correct it. Also jack it up high enough so that your hand won't get trapped between the ground and the tire as when you spin the wheel, cause if your hand goes too far under the tire it will possibly break your fingers. I did this but I didn't break any fingers but it hurt like I broke some. |
