Posts: 271 Belding Michigan | I took a trip this weekend and the weather was good roads great but I am under loved on the bike. I found that despite my loving and caring for my machine it did nto work well for me on a longish trip. We did 700 miles in three days so not pushing jsut enjoying the ride but several things came to light. 1. I get bad hip pain after a few hours and I have to start getting off every 40 or 50 miles leg shifts and any thing else I do doesn't help. 2. Also my shoulder muscles knot up really bad. 3. At this point my wife is also hurting in her lower back. For 10 cents she would trade back to our Goldwing in a heartbeat. Looking for Ideas as if moma isn't happy no one is and I am kind of discouraged as well. Archie |

Posts: 17 Decatur, GA | My brother had similar issues when he moved from a Kingpin to a Goldwing (before you ask why, my sister-in-law is vertically challenged and the Vision just does not have the comfort they were looking for in a touring bike for them). He complained about soreness first few months he owned it but now are fully adaptive to the bike. Every bike rides different and every rider fits the bike differently.

Posts: 72 Eden Prairie, MN | I'm as sorry as I am suprised by your comments. You are the first case like this I've heard. I have several 400 to 500 mile days under my belt. This is, by far the most comfortabe bike i've ever had. I'm 5'8 225lbs and I swear it was made for me. So how different are you form me?
Two up was a little less comfortable because I couldn't lean back enough to stretch my arms. But was ale to work some comprimise with my passemger to shift around alittle onse and awhile.
Let me ask you this, what do you think makes the Goldwing more comforatble?

Posts: 495 Carrollton, TX | I am sorry to hear you are experiencing this problem. I have over just over 21,000 miles on my Vision in just 6 months and I have done several 1,000 miles days and one 1,438 mile day. It is most comfortable bike I have ever ridden but a huge amount and I have ridden including the Gold Wing, BMW 1200 LT and Harley Ultra. As Carl mentioned each bike is different and works different muscles so depending on your physical shape it can take awhile to adjust to the Vision or any other bike. This is normal so just give it some more time and you will love the Vision. Also the Utopia backrest made a huge difference for me. |

If you have to trade out of it to keep yourself on the road, that just the way it's gotta be. Spock makes a good point with the Utopia. I don't have one but I do have a Kuryaken Grand Tour bag that lets me lean back just like the Utopia does. It sounds kinda hokey but leanig back does seem to improve the comfort and helps keep my legs from getting cramped up. I don't often admit it but I do have a back that goes out of wack every so often. Victory also offer a seat with a rider backrest but its close to $1K. I'm currently three days on the road with 1200mi+ behind me this trip and I'm not sore at all. The ONLY reason I stop is because there's nothing to see at night on Rt. 66 (until I hit Las Vegas). The first real trip I took on the bike was somewhere over 1000mi in 2 days. I was a little stiff and numb below because I had nothing to lean against when I was gliding. |

Posts: 447 Northeastern Penna. | Sorry to hear about your discomfort on the vision. As mentiond earlier, with all the shapes and sizes of people, bikes feel differently to each of us.I rode the gold wing and harley ultra glide before owning
a vision.By far,the vision is the most comfortable of the those bikes for me.The vast majority of people would agree. How can you possibly be comfortable on a gold wing with your feet below and to the rear of you and your knees cramped up against the engine. |

Posts: 271 Belding Michigan | To answer a couple of the questions asked I am 6'10" tall and 400 lbs I have the utopia back rest but can't use it with my wife on she can fit in the seat. I like the bikes basic set up but solving these problems may be beyond my ability. the Wing has its issues also which is why I went for the Vision. I find the seat is to soft as with my weight the seat compresses til I am sitting on the frame had that problem with the wing but a Corbin fixed that if you have never ridden a Corbin it is a brick but it is the same brick every time it doesn't break down over the hours of riding. I adjust the handle bars for a better fit on the wing and the highway pegs help also I can stand up on the pegs while in motion and stretch that is not possoble with the Vision and the Vision Highway pegs are useless I need to make some that go on at the front tip overs so I can extend my legs not just move them to the side. I am not giving up yet but this is a challenge. Archie |

Posts: 29 Hendersonville, TN | I broke my tailbone about 25 years ago so after 40 miles i'm moving around on the bike, and I've ridden them all and the only bike I didn't have an issue with was the Ultra Classic...but I purchased the Vision anyway. What hepled me considerably is the "airhawk", it's an air cushion with numerous air pockets which distribute your weight, you can also adjust the amount of air in the cushion. In conjunction with the airhawk I wear bicycle shorts because they have padding in the rear which provides a little extra room for the tailbone; I can ride for several hours now without too much discomfort, but I still need to move around...what's ironic is I can ride my Big Dog K9 all day without any discomfort, because the tailbone is slightly off the seat, but my arms will give out...LOL... |

Posts: 143 Sparta, WI | My shoulders get tight too but my lower back loves the ride. I am getting older. Sometimes it hurts to drive the car. Rode a Goldwing this summer for a 30 mile ride. My girl friend loved it. They ride great. Put a lot of miles on the Vision this summer. I would take it anywhere and not worry about my body spazzing out. The more I ride it the more my body wants to go for more.

Posts: 266 Stockton, Ca. | As a Vision Pilot I find the ride very comfortable. As for the wife, try the floorboard adaptors to raise them a bit. If your wife's legs are resting on the saddle bags the crease hits the legs in a way to cause circulation loss, tingling and back pain as a result of trying to get her legs in a comfortable position. The floorboard risers made all of the difference for my wife's comfort. No more back pain complaints. |
