My daughter called this afternoon and asked me "Dad where are y'all going if they call for mandatory evacuations?" I told her " your mom's gonna carry me down to the beach and tie me to a stake, I'd just as soon take my chances there then to get involved in another one of those evacuation fiasco's like we had with Rita" I guess she knows me pretty well, after trying to convince me to try some other plans she hung up and called her mother at work to report my bad behavior, and have her try to convince me to change my plans!!

For real tho, if it does come my way I was going to just ride it out, but then I got thinking about my Vision, sure don't want anything to happen to her. Maybe I will have to take a little trip north before the weeks up!

We can now evacuate on the Victory. Makes cutting through traffic a little better. What kills me is during Rita, the News Media had people so afraid of storm surge, people from Central and North Houston were even evacuating. No need for that if you live north of Reliant Stadium.

Anyway - Looks like Corpus is gonna get this one. But I was already prepared to move the Victory into an Inner Room or in the Bath Tub for safety.

Looks like Ike will be cutting out some of my riding time, too. We're expecting loads of rain over the weekend.........famous last words from many forecasters. I'll believe it when I see it--probably Saturday while I'm grilling on the back porch.

amazing, yesterday they had the track pointing directly at me, this morning its south of Corpus and the cone is coming near to excluding the Houston area all together!! at this rate I figure by tonight we might all be out of the path, unless you live in a grass hut in the middle of Mexico some place.

Well I got in at about 9:00 PM last night, I knew I should have fueled up then. this morning there's only one station in town open, but there's a news crew on every corner. nothing like bubble headed beach blonds. Maybe this thing will turn north before they predict and spare us the worst, wishful thinking. If I decide on the rope and the stake thing they will probably already have the roads to the beach closed anyway!

Hunker down, Jim......looks like it's heading your direction more by the minute. San Antonio seems to be getting less and less of an impact. Now, we're expecting 3-4 inches of rain Saturday, but still with 40-60 mph winds. I'm planning on grilling through it all......that should be fun...NOT!

Yep, some of my kids headed up your direction to get out of the way. I just told the wife that I think we'll put her bike in the garage at the in-laws and wait tell about 11:00 PM Friday then head towards Oklahoma on the Vision, heck with a 100 mile an hour tail wind we wouldn't even need any fuel! She wasn't very receptive of the idea though! She used some choice words and adjectives to explain that while I may be stupid enough to try it, she wasn't!

Hope you all get through OK. I was in the middle of Gustov, but I was in Jamaica at the time, and my Vision was tucked safely away in my garage in California.

Anyway, good luck to you all!

It's almost 6 on Friday evening, we've seen some high gusts so far but should start seeing tropical storm force winds soon. looks like low lying areas from Galveston past surfside have been hit hard already and the storm is still like 4 or 5 hours out yet. VisionTex, if you stayed at home I hope you are safe..looks like your area is getting hit harder than us take care.

12:45am - I'm having to sit up all night in Houston at the Central Cop Shop. Gonna be lots of flooded buildings down south (Galveston, etc..). The eye wall just now coming onto Galvestopn Island and will be downtown Houston about 4am. Looks like it is coming right up I-45. So far only one storm related death. I sat through Alicia back in 1983 also and this is very much the same. Hope you "South of Houston" Vision owners keep safe.

May today bring peace after the storm with minimal loss of life. I read in the paper that human nature will dictate some would not leave, therefore a massive search and rescue will need to be conducted. May God give strength and during this time of rebuilding.

Back online.......has been an eventful 5 days here in the Houston area. Ike came right over the house in Laporte quite a ride. Lost some shingles and got a little water in the house, but otherwise very lucky as you have seen from the new reports. Very tragic circumstance in some areas around Houston. My SSG Vision made it through A-OK, plan on riding soon, right now I'm my own electric company and that is keeping me busy.
