I completed my 17th and 18th Iron Butt ride on a Victory last weekend. The 12th and 13th done on my Vision 8-Ball.
Number 17 was done on the way to Fairplay, Colorado and #18 started at the highest saloon in Alma, CO and included a short ride on the Mosquito Pass and also a ride to Breckenridge, Leadville, through Independence Pass, Aspen and Glenwood Springs before heading east on I-70.
I had rain on Independence Pass, standing traffic on I-70 at Idaho Springs (east bound lanes were closed!) at the 300 mile point my average speed was 31 mph!! I also hit a deer in western Iowa.
I was able to pick up my pace and completed the ride in time. An adventure.
I was also able to test the Vision tip-overs on the Mosquito Pass. They work well!!

Rollin, What's your average time in doing the Saddle Sore 1000? I just completed by first one, and it took me hell of alot longer than I thought. It took me about 20 hours to complete it. I went from the East Bay from the San Francisco Bay Area, took 101 north to Eugene, Oregon, to get some VooDoo Donuts, and then to Reno, NV. My Vision performed flawlessly. My only gripe is the radio, just not able to hear anything over 75 miles, and forget it at about 90 mph and I already upgraded with an amp and better speakers. What do people say when you tell them you did an Iron Butt ride?

Congratulations on your ride!
My quickest 1000 miles was a little under 15 hours. That ride was all interstate and I had no rain.

Congrats, like usual. Now I gotta know. Did you climb that hill at the end? That looks like a cool ride. I'm not into the IRON GLUTEAS MAXIMUS, but I shore wouldn't mind getting out on some of those trails, even on the Vision. Looks like more fun on a Dirt bike. Especially, that hill climb at the end of the Video.

Holy shit! That video reminded me of Pearl Pass on a XR400 nearly 20 years ago. But on a Vision? Ohmigod!!! It makes me nauseous just thinking about it. Did you get through the rocks OK? Figuring you probably weren't about to turn around :-)

Steve,
I'm wondering too. Did you make it through all those rocks after you tested out the tip-overs?
What kinda of damage did you encounter hitting the deer? Man what an adventure ride ;-)

No, this became my turn around point. The rocks were too big!! Bigger than they looked in the video, the GoPro camera made the rocks look smaller and the road narrower.
It took me almost a half hour to back the Vision down the hill and over each rock without tipping over! The elavation was killing me, I had to take a lot of breaks before I left this area. I was at about 11,600 feet at the start of the climb.

I came over a hill in western Iowa at about 3:30 am and a small (4') deer was standing in the road, I went right and so did he.
I heard a big bang and was expecting the worst. Pulled over and I only had a broken fender, a large dent in the front cowl, some left side body damage and the lower air deflector was broken. Not bad concidering!
